Most watched Twitch streamers in January

For the second month in a row, the most popular streamer on the platform was Félix xQc Lengyel, who got into drama in Rust. The top also includes a guy who streamed the unpacking of expensive collectible cards and a blogger that discussed American politics. Read on how the rating of the most popular Twitch channels changed in January 2021.

XQc is solid: his streams have collected 26.1M Hours Watched in January, which is 3.3M more than in December. More than half of the total goes to Rust, where xQc caused a real stir on the streamer server. Lengyel's top categories also include Just Chatting and Valorant. Perhaps now Minecraft will be streamed more as xQc has an unfinished business with Sebastian Forsen Fors on a speedrun of the game.

The second place goes to Spanish variety streamer AuronPlay. His broadcasts received 15.4 million Hours Watched in January, although his airtime was lowest compared to other streamers in the top 10 (93.4 hours). For a month, His channel has doubled by Hours Watched in a month.

The third in the ranking is TheGrefg who has set a new Twitch record by peak viewers of a single channel. 2.4M people watched him present his own skin in Fortnite on January 11 (Ninja, Loserfruit and five other content creators have similar ones).

The video blogger Hasan Piker also returned to the top 10 and took fourth place. His Twitch channel was especially popular on January 6-7, when one of the main political news of America was discussed: Trump supporters ‘sieging’ United States Capitol.

Phenomena of 2020 Alexandre Gaules Borba and Ibai Ibai Llanos, who ranked second and third in December, moved down to fifth and seventh positions respectively. Note that Gaules streams endlessly (plus rebroadcasts), so his channel is among the leaders by airtime.

The only German-speaking streamer in the top is Trymacs, who primarily streams Clash Royale. However viewers were attracted by something else in January: he was unpacking collectible Pokémon cards worth €40,000. On January 30 alone, his channel gained a million Hours Watched, and in total viewers spent more than 9.8 million hours on Trymacs broadcasts.

summit1g was ranked 6th in previous rating, and in January he dropped to 9th position, although by Hours Watched his channel grew in January. Top 10 is closed by shroud with 8.3 million Hours Watched.
