October 2021 results on Twitch: most popular streamers, categories and broadcasts

October has just ended, which means it's time to sum up Twitch statistics in October 2021. A new Streams Charts article will tell you which streamers and categories were the most popular and show you the most watched clip of the month.

Most popular Twitch categories in October 2021

As in September,  Just ChattingLeague of Legends, and GTA V remained at the top of the category rankings. Only their positions has changed — LoL managed to take second place with 205.5 million Hours Watched thanks to the main tournament discipline Worlds 2021 and outpaced GTA V by 70.7 million Hours Watched.

Dota 2 was in fourth place. In recent months Dora 2 has shown poor statistics and hardly managed to get at least in the top 10. However, thanks to The International 2021, with a record prize money pool of $40 million, the game had a significant boost in views on Twitch. For comparison, in September it generated 34.4 million Hours Watched, placing 12th in the rankings, and in October Dota 2 had almost 98 million Hours Watched.

The top 5 most popular categories was rounded out by New World, released at the end of September 2021. The game became an instant hit on Twitch and easily made it to the top of the platform. In October it accumulated 85.5 million Hours Watched (twice as much as in September) and even overtook Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which had 68.7 million Hours Watched.

Only one game, Call of Duty: Warzone, dropped out of the rankings. In October it had 50 million Hours Watched (10% less than in September) and dropped to the 12th position. It was outpaced by FIFA 22 — 11th place with 55.4 million Hours Watched (60% more than in September).

Most popular male and female streamers on Twitch in October

The most popular male streamer in October on Twitch was Gaules — 18.68 million Hours Watched. The content-maker was on air for more than 765 hours one of the highest monthly totals among all Twitch channels.

His results were greatly boosted by CS:GO PGL Stockholm Major 2021 — the period from October 26 to 31 was the most productive for his channel. In addition, that was the first time in the last 12 months when Gaules managed to become the leader of the ranking —  previously he was only able to get close to the third place.

In second and third place were xQcOW and auronplay, with 19.2 million and 14 million Hours Watched, respectively. At the same time, in September Felix became the leader on the platform with 15.7 million Hours Watched, ahead of the Spaniard by 252K Hours Watched.

MontanaBlack88 and Fextralife were also in the top 5, generating 13.5 million and 12 million Hours Watched each.Compared to September, this number increased by 44% and 47%, respectively.  At the same time, both content makers also had a strong increase in airtime — by 47% and 31%, respectively.

As for female streamers, the most popular was once again Amouranth. She continues to hold the lead since March 2021. Last month she had 3.15 million Hours Watched (23% less than in September). The drop also affected the streamer's Average and Peak Viewers, which decreased by 28% and 15%, respectively. But her airtime increased by 7%. Amouranth's top categories were ASMR (1.6 million Hours Watched), and Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches, which totaled 1.1 million Hours Watched.

In second place was pokimane, the most popular streamer of 2020. In October, she generated 1.7 million Hours Watched (29% more than in September) and increased her Average and Peak Viewers number by 9% and 58%, respectively. She outpaced her closest pursuer, South Korean female streamer Saddummy, by only 160K Hours Watched. In fourth and fifth place were LakshartNia and 39daph, which had 1.4 million and 1.2 million Hours Watched, respectively.

The most popular Twitch clip in October 2021

The most popular clip of October was a funny fragment from EsfandTV's IRL stream, which had more than 263K views. In this clip, one of the broadcasters hits the other one in the face with a cardboard sleeve.

The most popular broadcasts by Peak Viewers in October 2021

The Russian-language broadcast of The International 2021 Grand Final between Team Spirit and PSG.LGD, which was won by the Russian team 3-2, attracted the largest number of viewers in October. The match was watched by 813K Peak Viewers.

Second place went to the Z Event 2021 charity stream with 720.7K Peak Viewers. The organizers of the event run similar broadcasts every year, raising money for foundations, with the participation of famous content-makers. This time, donations were sent to the humanitarian organization Action Against Hunger.

In third place was the broadcast of Mundial De Globos 2021, a tournament that appeared thanks to a viral video on Tik Tok, in which two guys hit a balloon and didn't let it fall to the ground after an opponent's hit. The event was organized by streamer ibai and FC Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué. 

Fourth and fifth places went to the South Korean and English broadcasts of the match between T1 and DAMWON KIA at Worlds 2021. The first one had 629K Peak Viewers, while the second one had 10K fewer Peak Viewers. In addition, five other League of Legends tournament broadcasts and one The International 2021 broadcast were also in the top 10.
