Actually, Just Chatting seems to have room for any kind of content. Streamers may be seen watching movies or TV series along with the viewers, play board games, share their travel experiences or simply tell life stories. These are merely the most common examples of IRL content, and the diversity of such content is the key to success of this category’s streamers.
What was the growth of Just Chatting compared to 2019?
We have determined how the category’s hours watched have changed by over the last two years. The chart shows a gradual but noticeable increase at the beginning of 2020. It was in the spring that the pandemic and global quarantine have started. This was only to the benefit of streaming, given that the live platforms became the viewers’ way out of boredom.
In March, the category’s hours watched amounted to 110 million, while in May this figure increased to 184 million. Starting in May, Just Chatting held the first spot in the ranking of Twitch categories.
The category’s sudden rise slowed down during the summer. For a time in seemed as if the owner of the first spot would change – however, neither the Fall Guys boom, nor the revival of Among Us, nor the League of Legends at the time of Worlds 2020 managed to take the first spot.
In December, the category achieved its best performance with 248 million hours watched and 1.1 million peak viewers. A comparison between the results of 2019 and 2020 shows a 2.7 times increase in the hours watched.

The concept of Just Chatting broadcasts is rather uniform, rooted in interaction and communication with the viewers. That’s why the winners here are the outstanding personalities that are interesting to watch.
HasanAbi is ranked first in Just Chatting in terms of the hours watched. Nearly all of Hasan Piker’s content is focused on discussing politics, with the US presidential election this year only strengthening his positions in this category – with his broadcast featuring the debates of 237 thousand peak viewers about the new head of state.
Coming second was xQc, who had the highest growth in terms of subscribers and views in the category. During this year a total of 5.3 million people have subscribed to Felix during Just Chatting broadcasts.
The Spaniard Ibai had a brand-new achievement of gathering 552 thousand viewers on his broadcast during the New Year’s feast. This allowed him to set a new record, entering the top 3 Twitch streamers of all time by the peak viewers indicator.
Russian streamer Evelone192 also managed to get into the top. Despite receiving six bans in 2020, Vadim Kozakov still remained the category’s top-4 streamer. The result could’ve been better – however, Evelone was permabanned on the platform in December, and his channel was blocked ever since.
MontanaBlack88 is streaming for German-speaking viewers. Marcel Eris originally started on YouTube and then quickly gained popularity on Twitch due to maintaining a close relationship with his audience. As a result, MontanaBlack reached 13 million hours watched in 2020.
The female contribution to Just Chatting category shouldn’t be ignored either. The Korean female streamer Jinnytty almost made it to the top 10 overall channels with 12 million hours watched. The girl is very fond of sharing details about her life and travels with the fans, being on the air for 2.2. thousand hours over the course of 2020.
Leading in terms of airtime was Amouranth with 2343 hours. This female streamer often does cosplays of different characters, plays sports and chats with her audience.
Standing out in terms of other indicators was Pokimane, a member of OfflineTV. Imane Anys attracted 92 thousand viewers on one of her broadcasts when she talked about the situation with Fed and OfflineTV. It should be noted that in the past year, Pokimane gained 3.1 million subscribers, which is the most among all streamers of the platform.
