On 25 February we’ve seen a new Sony presentation — State of Play. The devs updated the statuses of already announced projects and showed the games that will impress us in 2021. Streams Charts tells what was interesting at the presentation and what viewership results the showcase showed.
For half an hour of presentation, Sony presented the following projects:
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will be released on new consoles. The game will receive the support of 4K at 60 FPS and DualSense with 3D audio. It will be released on March 12 on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch. PC version will be available at the end of the year.
Returnal is a new third-person shooter. The key feature is that the game world is generated randomly after each death of the character. The game will be available starting from April 30th on PS5.
Deathloop is an action game by Bethesda Softworks. The key feature of the game is time rewind which allows a player to rethink strategies again and again. The release is scheduled for May 21 on PS5 and PC.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is a new part of the well-known horror, but now the game departed from the point-and-click genre and began to resemble Outlast. The release will take place during the year on PS5, PS4, and PC.
There were also new trailers for Oddworld: Soulstorm, Solar Ash, Knockout City, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
The most important announcement was the Final Fantasy VII remake on PS5. The game received additional optimization, improved graphics, photo mode, and a new mission with the thief Yuffie Kisaragi, who was a secret playable character in the original.
As for viewership statistics, Sony can be congratulated on a new achievement - the February 25 presentation overtook the August State of Play by key metrics.
The Hours Watched increased by 35,5%, and Peak Viewers grew by 77K. Note that this time Twitch broadcasts attracted more viewers than during the previous event. In August, the audience preferred to watch the game releases on YouTube.
Besides, the audience has changed a bit. As before, English-speaking viewers are in the lead, but the February presentation attracted more Spanish-speaking viewers than last time - 160K at the peak. So the audience has grown by 135K people. This happened because of the famous local content makers: the presentation was streamed by Rubius and Alexelcapo.
The Portuguese-speaking segment has grown similarly - 135K viewers, 42% more than during the last State of Play. The growth was caused by Alanzoka, Davyjones, and other streamers.
The audience of State of Play can be divided into 19 different languages. This is more than during the August presentation, back then viewers from 13 regions watched the presentation.
Next month we will see the presentation of Sony's main competitor - Xbox. According to rumors, the company will talk about the new projects by Bethesda, which Microsoft acquired in September last year.
