On May 8, fans witnessed an epic celebration of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, a remake of the legendary game series. Emanating live from the iconic El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, they got updates on new gameplay, interviews with Pro skaters, and live performances from artists in-game.
The livestream of this show, titled #THPSFest, on Twitch attracted 21,690 Hours Watched (HW) and 10,167 Peak Viewers (PV) over an airtime of 4 hours and 15 minutes. Other video game-related events, like the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 showcases, may have run longer and posted higher audience numbers, but that was never the aim for Tony Hawk's creators.
A title and series as niche as it is legendary, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater has always relied on its in-game content and the word of mouth among players to build a loyal fanbase over the decades of its existence. In that regard, peaking at just over 10,000 viewers is quite the flex for a franchise considered a classic, and in any case, the viewership numbers when the game does come out are bound to be as strong as anything we see in 2025.
Apart from gameplay sneak peeks, audiences and fans were treated to musical performances by Adolescents, Urethane, Danny Brown, and Lupe Fiasco. Some of these artists' songs featured in Tony Hawks Pro Skater games over the years, and the same tracks will return for the modern remake. Others, like Lupe Fiasco and Danny Brown, making his franchise debut, have yet-to-be-announced tracks in Pro Skater 3+4.
As the name suggests, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is bringing back the two games with a makeover to suit the modern demands. It has more skaters, parks, tricks, and music, bringing the nostalgia back for PlayStation 2 fans who spent hours performing unreal tricks and combos back in the day.
"I truly think there's still nothing that plays like a Tony Hawk game. There's just something about when you play a game that is so well-made, when you're stringing together combos and realise that someone designed this so that it could all link together. So much thought and intention go into it."
- Kurt Tillmanns, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 director
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 will be released on July 11 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC in two editions: Standard/Cross-Gen and Digital Deluxe (which gives players early access by three days). Those who cannot wait to get their hands on the title can pre-order it on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, Steam, Battle.net, Microsoft PC Store, and Nintendo Switch. A Foundry demo will also be available in June for gamers who pre-order any edition.
It's been a great year for video game releases so far, and with the hype and expectations that the #THPSFest has generated, it is fair to say that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 will join that list when it comes out in the summer. Streams Charts will be on hand to cover any viewership insights and updates; meanwhile, readers interested in accessing more detailed stats for new titles can do so here.
