Share:

Twitch is a platform where a multitude of games is played by thousands of streamers, be it as a passion or a hobby. Some of the most popular titles streamed are Valorant, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, GTA V, and Dota 2. These games rule the roost because they bring in millions of viewers daily, making it a lucrative exercise for these content creators. There is also the added benefit of adding followers and subscribers, which only helps their standing on the platform in the long run.

However, there are phases every few weeks where a bunch of games shoot up the ladder to occupy the top spots in viewership and hours played by streamers, which could be for myriad reasons. Whatever the cause, the effect is that these titles gain a wider viewership and some media attention, which is never a bad thing.

Streams Charts has crunched some numbers to ascertain the top ten games trending on Twitch in Portuguese over the past thirty days (January 10 to February 8).

If you want to keep an eye on what games are trending on Twitch check the Streams Charts trending games page, where you will be able to find the thirty-five games that are trending on the streaming platform. With the PRO subscription, you will be able to see what were the trending games of previous months and years. You will not be limited to only one page, and can also search for the games by language, giving you much more detailed statistics.

#1 — League of Legends

League of Legends has perhaps the biggest esports scene in the world, with a season that spans continents and the entire calendar year. As a result, this MOBA is always prominent on platforms like Twitch, and that is exactly why we see this respectable growth in Hours Watched over the last month.

With the esports season beginning, the game saw a massive rise in the number of people watching it on the purple platform. Also, with the various leagues being covered in Portuguese, and with local leagues like the CBLOL in full flight, it is no surprise that the game has seen a sharp rise in viewership.

#2 — War by Grow Games

WAR is Grow Games' famous strategy game that has also been the 11th most trending game over the last 30 days across all languages, which is quite an achievement. Among the ten entries on this list, this title had the second-highest percentage gain in terms of HW for the same previous period.

WAR had an HW gain of 644%, which shows that it is one of the games that is satisfying a crowd that is looking for a change, so it will be worth keeping an eye out for the numbers this game posts in the coming months.

#3 — Bloodborne

A classic of the RPG genre, Bloodborne is a legacy game with a dedicated fanbase that continues to marvel with its fantastic gameplay eight years after its release. This third-person action RPG seems pretty popular among Portuguese audiences, as seen from the fact that it was the third-most trending title over the last 30 days.

Bloodborne is the game that grew the most over the past month, seeing a tremendous 1,015% rise in growth in terms of HW from the previous 30 days. Having been watched for just 34,699 hours between December 7 and January 9, it saw a whopping 386,753 HW the following 30 days, a difference of 352,054thanks in no small part to Cellbit, who contributed an unbelievable 93% of all HV for this game at 355,988 HW.

#4 — Rocket League

Rocket League is another game that has been popular for years and boasts a seriously good esports scene. That is why it remains a fixture on Twitch, where it has seen steady growth in HW over the last 30 days.

The vehicular sports saw a tidy rise of 115% from the previous 30 days of viewership by audiences mainly due to the RLCS Winter Split starting at the end of January. With the Winter Major running till April, fans can expect its numbers to keep rising on numerous streaming platforms, especially with Team Secret looking to keep its lead intact in the South America leg.

#5 — Roblox

Roblox is another game that exploded during the pandemic’s lockdown era, and that popularity has continued to this day. A platform where users can build games, including copies of other titles, movies, and shows, this game creation system has become a major part of the video gaming system over the past few years.

Roblox was watched for 437,732 hours between January 10 to February 8, a rise of 180% and 280,856 hours from its previous 30-day figure of 156,876 hours. Gabepeixe, a creator from Brazil, was the top channel for this game, having notched 221,239 HW, a contribution of 51% to the overall HW among Portuguese speakers.

#6 — The Last of Us Part I

The first part of the award-winning and genre-defining two-part video game series has gained immensely from the fact that its TV show adaptation was recently released to much acclaim and fanfare. A lot of gamers have returned to play The Last of Us Part I either in anticipation of its drama series counterpart or to see how similar the latter was to its source material.

Whatever the case, the game has been the winner as it saw a 602% spike in HW after registering 184,121 HW in the last 30 days, compared to 26,230 HW for the month before that, a difference of 157,891 HW. The most popular channel to catch its streams was yayahuz, who saw 64,947 HW, a contribution of 36% to the overall HW total for the game.

#7 — Valheim

Valheim is another game that benefitted from being released during the pandemic, and it ranked high on all Twitch metrics for a while after its release. The action RPG survival game was a breath of fresh air when it came out, and with constant updates and additions, it remains a title worth checking out today.

Among Portuguese audiences, the title saw a 150,537 HW growth, or 115%, as it got 81,799 HW compared to 131,262 from the previous 30 days. Brazilian streamer Hayashii was the most-preferred channel for viewers, making up 148 704 hours or 53% of the overall HW for Valheim.

#8 — High on Life

The FPS action shooter, High on Life, is another game that owes its rise over the last 30 days to just one streamer. Considering it was released in December 2022, however, judgment must be withheld until more time has passed.

It notched 175,371 HW in contrast to 66,227 HW from the previous 30 days, a 109,144 HW, or 165%, rise. Brazilian creator alanzoka may as well have been the only streamer viewers turned to for content on this title, as he contributed a huge 90% of the total HW or 156,118 hours.

#9 — Grounded

This action RPG survival adventure game was another that made waves over the past month among Portuguese-speaking viewers. Again, it was released fairly recently, but the viewership numbers were plummeting after a strong initial two months, so it remains to be seen what happens as we head into 2023.

Grounded registered an HW gain of 77,681 hours, or 173%, having notched 122,756 and 45,075 HW over consecutive months. Brazilian Hayashii played a big part in this rise, notching 95,332 HW, which was 78% of the total HW for the game over this time period

#10 — Chess

Chess has made comeback, and how, over the past few years, aided in particular by the lockdown era. The strategy sports game that many considered boring for ages has now become a popular option to stream on platforms like Twitch, and Portuguese viewers seem to agree with this view.

With chesscompt (chess.com) being the main channel for broadcasting chess events, including in Portuguese, it has become the most preferred channel for audiences. Also, with events like Tata Steel 2023 and Airthings Masters 2023, where a mega draw like Magnus Carlsen played, the viewership has shot up for this channel and the sport, which looks likely to continue as long as the big guns participate.
