It has been a busy first half of 2023 in the entertainment and esports worlds, what with so many tournaments, showcases, exhibitions, and events — both recurring and new — taking up the calendar. This has also meant that quite a few records have been broken, with many more in danger as we head into the second half of the year.
Streams Charts has been doing its bit in recapping the various monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly lists when to viewership data, and with its new filters in place, here are the most watched channels across platforms by genre for last month. Some points that immediately jump out are the high number of Twitch streamers in the gambling section, three South Korean streamers making the IRL list, and a Vietnamese content creator for NimoTV being the most-watched individual Gaming channel.
Most watched IRL channels in June 2023
In the top spot is HasanAbi, who has cultivated a reputation as perhaps the go-to streamer for everything in the Just Chatting sphere. He is followed by Kai Cenat, a new member of the Twitch superstar club who just seems to be getting better and more popular with each new live stream.
Third is Adin Ross, the former Twitch content creator who currently turns out for Kick and remains one of its most-watched names so far. Then only other Kick representative, westcol, takes up the tenth spot, with xQc and ibai, two of the most prominent influencers who regularly make such lists, rounding off the top five.
The bottom five consist of the only two females to appear on this list — ironmouse and Jinnytty. It also has two famous South Korean streamers — 우왁굳 and 와꾸대장봉준 — with the latter being the only AfreecaTV representative here.
Most-watched Gaming channels in June 2023
There are lots of familiar faces on this leaderboard, with the likes of Fextralife, tarik, Gaules, shroud, and Quin69 found on such pages frequently. The first name is a collective of esports fans who bring to fans news, guides, and reviews from the video game world, while the other four are popular for their myriad of content related to different genres of games.
Vietnamese NimoTV broadcaster MixiGaming is second, which is hugely creditworthy considering the names he is competing with. He even has his own website where he uploads news, podcasts, vlogs, and reactions to various happenings in the video game world.
Russian organization paragon_dota has also been climbing the various June standings thanks to its coverage of the DreamLeague Season 20. Another Vietnamese NimoTV channel, Thầy Giáo Ba, which covers League of Legends, is ninth thanks to its constant reporting of the VCS Dusk 2023. In the last spot is another popular Brazilian handle, Cellbit, who plays multiple titles on stream, especially Minecraft.
Most watched Esports channels in June 2023
Unsurprisingly, this list is dominated by names from Twitch and YouTube Gaming. Gaules is top here, and in fact, he is the only individual channel to make it into this top ten, reaffirming his popularity among esports lovers in the Latin American region.
There are two Dota 2 handles — ESL_DOTA2 and paragon_dota — in the top five, pointing to the fact that the viewership for the discipline is not completely buried yet. Also, three MLBB accounts in the top ten — including one in second — will not surprise anyone, knowing the kind of viewership numbers it pulls in.
League of Legends gets three representatives on this standings, thanks to the fame of the LCK, while Valorant's official channel also manages to find a place here. One thing proved is that MOBA esports continues to reign supreme when it comes to attracting millions of audiences for its competitions, be it on PC or Mobile.
Most watched Sports channels in June 2023
On a leaderboard dominated by Twitch, the Kings League has seemingly taken over this sphere of streaming, and it’s no coincidence that it is football that is the focus here, for it truly is the global sport. It is followed by Gerard Romero, the highly-influential Spanish sports journalist and content creator who specializes in football and has been keenly following the Kings and Queens leagues.
Chess, which has recently become uber-popular online, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic, took the fifth spot, continuing its growth as a viable and popular sport on LAN. A few other channels like ElChiringuitoTV (Spanish), tvplay_calciomercatoit (Italian), and elyihi (Spanish) have also made this top ten. The latter two's coverage of football news, especially transfer-related happenings, has helped them stay in the public eye a lot more.
GMHikaru, the chess Grandmaster, is another who has benefitted immensely from chess' manifold growth on the internet. He has become one of the most followed players in his sport, and fans flock in droves to his channel to get tips on how to play and watch live streams of games happening around the globe.
Most watched Music channels in June 2023
♥심장, or Heart, is a South Korean music streamer on AfreecaTV who hit 832K Hours Watched last month, 127.6% better than the next highest entry. Her channel streams music 24x7, and while she hasn’t put out any sing of her own, the playlists she creates and the remixes she makes are highly sought after among users.
Amazon's global English channel follows, with its Italian handle also making it in the tenth spot. When it comes to the second-placed AmazonMusic, the three straight days of live English music between June 1 and June 3 from the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona which accumulated around 59% of its overall watch hours for the month helped it make it this high in the leaderboard.
Third is LeekBeats, a playlist created by Leek Duck, known for their infographics about Pokemon GO and the different musical playlists they upload for users online. Next is Sintica, the German musical artist whose music is mostly from the Dance/Electronic genre. In fact, at one point a few years back, she was the highest-paid female Twitch streamer.
Rounding off the top five is Kick's sixtysevenradio, the American internet radio station that began during the main COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. This internet radio station apparently blends new-age, easy listening, and instrumental guitar music to provide a new type of radio listening. The rest of the list consists of channels from South Korea and Germany, both popular markets when it comes to the music industry.
Most watched Slots & Casino channels in June 2023
This list is dominated by content creators from Kick and Twitch, despite the former suffering from often undeserved criticism that it encourages this genre upon impressionable audiences. roshtein and Adin Ross are the two biggest names on here, but the likes of CasinoDaddy and SlotsMarko are pretty well-known for their constant forays in this type of content.
There is also classybeef from Malta, where the tax laws and rules related to gambling and casinos are much less stringent. A Turkish broadcaster, casinosakultah, resides in the tenth spot although the country is not known for delving into Slots & Casinos that much.
This top ten leaderboard also includes two currently banned Twitch streamers — TheSlotGuru and Baianinha_RIO. This shows the perils of broadcasting this type of content on the purple platform, whose handling of the entire scenario is believed by content creators, fans, the public, and shareholders to be less than impressive.
