In 2025, Virtual YouTubers continued to receive considerable attention, with some of the community's top names posting impressive livestreaming numbers. We also saw the rise of a new VTubing star among Western audiences, one who could be challenging the established order in terms of global popularity before the end of 2026.

Streams Charts has delved into its extensive database to compile the top ten most popular VTubers of 2025, ranked by watch time and peak concurrent viewership. These are two of the most reliable metrics to see which streamers were the most consistent and engaged audiences across the year.

Topping this list is the fast-rising TheBurntPeanut, who emerged as a serious player in the space in 2025, culminating in a Best VTuber win at the prestigious The Streamer Awards 2025. He multistreamed on Twitch, Kick and YouTube for much of these 12 months — helping rapidly expand his audience.

The American streamer, known for his distinctive peanut avatar and high-energy streams, first gained recognition thanks to his Escape from Tarkov livestreams. They showed he had the chops to do well in this shooter genre, making him one of last year's most talked-about rising stars and earning multiple award nominations. He backed this fame by going viral worldwide thanks to his Arc Raiders content late last year.

Second is Miko Ch., who just about got ahead of Pekora Ch. as the rivals continued to be among the most famous VTubers globally. The two Hololive agency members had identical numbers across the board, although it was Miko whose watch time enjoyed a higher year-on-year rise of 66%.

In 2025, apart from her usual video gaming sessions, Miko held livestreams debuting various costumes and releasing songs like Re:flection and Lollipop. She also celebrated reaching the two-million-subscriber milestone by launching a 3D costume and a new song, SAKIHOKORE AIDORU.

Pekora, meanwhile, held events like Holo Dragon Minecraft that featured fellow Hololive VTubers and collaborated with brands like King To Nin Jiom. The Japanese sensation also released a song, Pekopeko!! Chicken Fever, in December, which was made available to fans on top platforms like Apple Music.

Kuzuha Channel, another regular on our periodic rankings, accrued 38.6 million Hours Watched (HW) in 2025. The Japanese YouTube sensation gave a lot of attention to League of Legends and Valorant last year, although these livestreams were not coverage of esports events. Instead, he participated in and hosted various Nijisanji-affiliated events and played friendly matches alongside fellow VTubers like Fura Kanato and Shibuya HAL.

The world's most popular English-speaking VTuber, ironmouse, continued her run as one of the most-watched names in the segment for another year. While the Puerto Rican star enjoyed a sterling 2025 in terms of viewership, away from the screen, she had a harder time. She announced her departure from VShojo, which she had been part of since 2020, due to a financial scandal involving the talent agency. This led to a massive walkout, as more streamers chose to cut ties with the company and pursue careers as independent content creators.

One of the top independent VTubers on the scene, Ririka Kurumizawa (胡桃沢りりか), also made it here thanks to a massive 251% rise in her YoY watch time. Like many of her peers, she spent a large part of her time on air playing various games, especially those famous in Japan. She also has some of her most successful livestreams in terms of watch time and peak live viewers last year, with her ability to create suspense among audiences while playing story mode-driven games helping engage them for longer.

Some of the other top VTubers like Subaru Ch., Koyori ch. and Watame Ch. finished in this top-ten leaderboard. Each attracted over 15 million HW in 2025, with Minecraft emerging as a common title among them thanks to its adoption in various events hosted by their agency, Hololive.

We also have to mention the only other VTuber who multistreams to make these rankings. Kanae Channel (叶ちゃんねる) achieved almost identical watch time numbers on Twitch and YouTube, entering the top ten on the strength of these livestreams. On both platforms, the male Japanese virtual creator stuck to titles that historically attract large audiences, like Grand Theft Auto V, Valoranta and Street Fighter 6.

Leading the pack in the corresponding table for peak viewership is Shion Ch., the former Hololive talent whose farewell concert marking her departure from the agency drew 355,000 concurrent viewers. It also helped make her one of the most popular YouTube Gaming streamers of 2025 by peak live viewers, beating creators like Andre "Typical Gamer" Rebelo and Richard "Ninja" Blevins.

Another former Hololive talent, Chloe ch., reached 346 Peak Viewers (PV) during her graduation broadcast early in 2025. She retired from livestreaming in January, becoming the first holoX member to do so, but remains affiliated with the agency, leaving the door open to a return for future projects.

Completing a trio of retirement livestreams atop this list is Kanata Ch., whose exit from Hololive came right at the end of the year. In fact, it was the sixth anniversary of her debut, on December 27, 2025, and this broadcast did 325,771 PV. For those wondering, the VTuber announced that she was stepping away due to the workload and tasks becoming far beyond what she initially expected, something that had become a problem for several years.

A few of these VTubers achieved high viewership peaks while celebrating milestones like anniversaries (Pekora Ch.), returns to livestreaming (Ruru Suzuhara), festive celebrations (Kenmochi Toya), or announcements (Gawr Gura Ch.). Miko Ch., meanwhile, attracted almost 250,000 PV during her broadcast of the Main Event of the Hololive Weakest Gomoku King Tournament.

Gawr Gura made it a double of sorts on this list, as her debut stream under a new look and name — Saba, short for SamekoSaba — became quite the spectacle. Her first broadcast as an independent VTuber attracted almost 201,000 peak concurrent viewers, making it one of the best debuts in VTuber history.

The rankings for VTubers reiterated the fact that the top names remain from the Japanese-speaking community. However, the likes of ironmouse and TheBurntPeanut showed that there is a market of streamers of this genre in the Western world, as long as their talents shine through and their content is able to engage audiences in the long run.
