The continuation of the Summer months has been particularly successful for Twitch. Although some statistics such as Average Viewers and Average Channels saw no statistically meaningful change compared to June, Peak Viewers soared by 51% to set a new platform record for the purple site, thanks to a special event organized by Spanish streamer and industry leader ibai. His La Velada del Año IV boxing event helped the platform to reach 6.74M Peak Viewers, flying far past what Twitch has achieved in the past.
Aside from the boost generated by ibai’s event, most other statistics for Twitch in this period showed either stability, or slight growth. Active Channels for the period grew by 4% as more users began streaming on the platform, although Peak Channels fell by 6%. Hours Watched increased by 3% to reach 1.639B, which is the highest amount of watch time Twitch has been able to achieve this since Q1.
Ibai’s event was not only influential on Twitch’s peak viewership, of course, but it also generated 26.8M Hours Watched for the platform by itself. Twitch increased its watch time for July by 46.24M HW, meaning that ibai’s event contributed 58% of this total watch time growth. Aside from ibai, many other streamers such as Kai Cenat held particularly well-received streams, and other special events such as those hosted by GamesDoneQuick were particularly successful.
Most Watched Games & Categories on Twitch, July 2024
Compared to previous months, the top three most-watched categories on Twitch have remained stable. Just Chatting continues to lead the way with 279.8M Hours Watched, ahead of Grand Theft Auto V and League of Legends. Elden Ring continued to enjoy high viewership thanks to the release of its recent Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, although it slipped down the ratings slightly as the novelty of the new release begins to wear off.
With Elden Ring stepping aside, Valorant was able to move up the ratings slightly and generate 82M Hours Watched for the month. The shooter enjoyed a boost in viewership from the tail-ends of the regional circuits’ Stage 2 events, and viewership will likely continue to rise in August thanks to the Valorant Champions 2024 tournament: the ultimate end-of-season event for Valorant’s esports scene.
Counter-Strike recorded a slight drop in viewership for the month, as there were fewer high-level esports events taking place for the title, whereas Dota 2 enjoyed the opposite. The Riyadh Masters 2024 event boosted the game’s viewership, increasing its watch time by 16% compared to the previous month so that the MOBA title could reach 47.75M Hours Watched.
The Special Events category was of course boosted by ibai’s special boxing event, which generated a majority of the category’s watch time for the month. The category recorded 7.4K Viewers per Channel for the month, making it the most viewer-heavy category on the entire platform for July, excluding categories with fewer than 50 Unique Channels recorded.
Aside from this, Fortnite recorded a slight decrease in its watch time for the month, whereas Minecraft enjoyed a 20% increase to its Hours Watched metric, which finished the month at 26.45M HW.
Most Watched Channels on Twitch, June 2024

Top channels by Hours Watched & Peak Viewers
Ibai was the king of Twitch for July. The Spanish streamer not only blew other creators out of the water with 28.93M Hours Watched, but his 3.85M Peak Viewers was even more impressively record-breaking. Ibai’s broadcast of the event became the most popular Twitch stream ever by peak concurrent viewership. The Spanish creator continues to break records and push the potential of the livestreaming industry to its limit year after year.
KaiCenat enjoyed substantial viewership for the month thanks to many collaborative streams throughout the month. The American streamer hosted broadcasts with internet personalities such as MrBeast, IShowSpeed, and even rapper Ice Spice. He received 9.92M HW and 457K Peak Viewers for the month, and if ibai’s event hadn’t fallen in the same month as Kai’s success, he could have been Twitch’s most popular creator for the month.
Other special events larger than one personal Twitch streamer appeared in these rankings, such as GamesDoneQuick. The speedrunning charity event channel received nearly all of its watch time during the first few days of July, when it hosted its Summer Games Done Quick 2024 event. Warframe received 421K Peak Viewers for its Tennocon 2024 broadcast, a special annual conference and presentation for the games company.
German streamer eliasn97 received 140K PV for his Summer Games event: the German streamer largely records most of his viewership thanks to special events organized by the creator. DiarioMARCA received 179K Peak Viewers for his coverage of the final match of the EUROS 2024, which saw England face off against Spain.
Moving from sports to esports, the EWC_CS account received 144K PV for its coverage of its own esports event. The Esports World Cup Counter-Strike tournament came to a close with G2 Esports facing NAVI in the grand finals, and NAVI secured the win with a 2-1 victory. The first map of the match resulted in a 16-14 overtime win for G2 Esports, which is when this peak viewership was reached. Fortnite streamer Clix also received 148K Peak Viewers for his coverage of the FNCS 2024 - Major 1: North America, making the community caster for Fortnite more popular than the official EWC Counter-Strike account for July.
Aside from these one-off special events, Japanese streamers 加藤純一です (kato_junichi0817) and fps_shaka placed highly with 7.74M HW and 6.63M HW recorded, respectively. The two drastically increased their watch time for the month, thanks to collaborative events such as the Japanese Rust server, and increasing their broadcasting time for the month.
The remainder of the most-watched Twitch streamers ranking was dominated by North American streamers. HasanAbi led the way with 7.3M HW; the political streamer enjoyed a significant boost to his viewership thanks to the news of Joe Biden stepping out of the next US presidential election, and Hasan’s coverage of this news and Kamala Harris’ nomination were enough to place him 5th on this ranking. The remainder of the American streamers here were largely streamers focusing on Shooters, with the list finished off by caseoh_, Jynxzi, and tarik.
Most Watched Female Streamers on Twitch, May 2024

Top female streamers by Hours Watched & Peak Viewers
On the female side of Twitch, mira was able to take the top spot of this month’s ranking by watch time. Similar to IJenz, her watch time was largely a result of the large amount of time spent broadcasting throughout the month: effectively 24/7. Both of these creators recorded the lowest average viewership of all female streamers in our most-watched ranking.
Travel vlogger Jinnytty increased her viewership to grab second in our ranking, coming out just ahead Puerto Rican VTuber ironmouse, who recorded fewer hours of airtime throughout the month and received 1.46M HW. Zentreya and 赤見かるび (akamikarubi) increased their viewership just enough to rank within the top 10 this month, making our July female rankings one of the most VTuber-saturated months of the year so far.
North American streamer Emiru recorded a 7% drop in viewership for the month, but actually climbed the ratings as other streamers recorded more significant drops for the period. Kyedae only dropped one spot in this month’s rankings, despite her viewership dropping by 27% for the month, largely due to her broadcasting time also falling by 23%.
Swedish streamer MissMikkaa climbed up the rankings slightly thanks to her mind-boggling challenge runs of Elden Ring, and Mexican creator rivers_gg received most of her watch time thanks to broadcasts in the Just Chatting section. She received 51K Peak Viewers while reacting to ibai’s boxing event, coming out ahead of fellow Mexican streamer amablitz, who received 25K PV thanks to a Twitch Raid of 18K viewers coming from rivers herself. Llunaclark was one of the most popular female streamers of the month, once again thanks to a broadcast focusing on ibai’s boxing event.
Alondrissa managed to lead the way in peak viewership for this month. The Puerto Rican streamer has become well known for her collaborative streams with other creators and internet personalities; her 151K Peak Viewers in July was achieved thanks to a visit from Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko on her stream.
American celebrity madisonbeer reached 46K PV thanks to one singular broadcast at the end of the month, highlighting the viewership potential of traditional celebrities on Twitch. Esports focused VTuber 如月れん (ren_kisaragi__) received 41K Peak Viewers for her coverage of the EVO 2024 esports event, tying with Cinna, who received her viewership thanks to a collaborative stream with other creators. They both received more viewership than QTCinderella, who hosted a special podcast-style stream with other North American female creators TinaKitten, Valkyrae, Fuslie, and Kkatamina.
