Yesterday, the highly-anticipated Twitch Rivals SquidCraft Games 2 kicked off. Until March 4, 200 of Twitch’s biggest streamers will fight through mini-games inspired by the Netflix show “Squid Game”. At the peak of its first day, more than 1.6 million concurrent fans tuned in, and we only expect viewership to grow as the event progresses. Here’s everything you need to know about Day 1 of Twitch Rivals SquidCraft 2.

Twitch Rivals SquidCraft Games 2 is based on a Minecraft mod that mimics the radical format of the popular Netflix show. 200 streamers are participating in the spectacle until only one survivor remains. This lucky winner will take home the $200,000 prize pool.

The SquidCraft sequel has added new spices to make it even more memorable. The prize pool was doubled, and the number of players increased from 150 to 200. Moreover, the Spanish competition is joined by non-Spanish streamers like Pokimane, xQc, Dream, and AmouranthFinally, the event organizers have prepared additional mini-games that will be revealed daily.

The first day started with the “Pamplona” game, where players completed an obstacle course while being chased by bulls. 13 players were run over by the bulls, including Loserfruit and ElviraYuki. In the second game, “Let’s play in the forest”, streamers had to avoid a hunting wolf. Among the 17 unlucky victims were Amouranth and Ibai. This leaves 169 players in the competition.

Twitch Rivals SquidCraft 2 began with impressive viewership numbers. Throughout its 3-hour Airtime, the event accumulated nearly 5.4 million Hours Watched. Day 1 peaked at almost 1.7 million viewers during the first min-game. In comparison, its predecessor peaked at just over 1 million on the first day. In fact, it never crossed the 1.5 million Peak Viewers mark until the final day. With SquidCraft 2’s successful start, the event has a good chance of overtaking its first edition.

Most of the viewers belonged to the Spanish-speaking audience. The picture is similar when looking at the top 10 SquidCraft streamers of Day 1. Most of them are part of the Spanish-speaking Twitch community. The lead takes auronplay with 265,000 PV. His runner-up, elspreen, attracted nearly 100,000 fewer PV.

The most popular English-speaking streamer was xQc. Unsurprisingly, his fans loved watching the excitable creator try his best in the competition. With over 123,000 PV, he has a significant stake in the overall English peak viewership of almost 380,000. Interestingly, xQc sits above elxokas in terms of Day 1 peak viewership. The Spanish streamer experienced the highest PV during the first SquidCraft event, with over 1.2 million PV.

Twitch Rivals SquidCraft Games 2 is currently the top 2 Twitch Rivals event by Peak Viewers. On top of that, it can also compete with the biggest live-streaming events of the year so far. After Day 1, it takes fifth place among the top 8 events of 2023 by PV — right between VCT 2023: LOCK//IN at almost 890,000 PV and MPL Indonesia Season 11 with nearly 1.8 million PV. The rank takes another Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament: the M4 World Championship with almost 4.3 million PV. However, SquidCraft 2 is the only gaming competition among streamers on this list.

Twitch Rivals SquiCraft Games 2 continues today at 6 pm GMT+0. Then, we’ll find out who makes one step closer to the prize money. Although some famous streamers have been eliminated already, they still cover the competition on their channels. SquidCraft 2 will most likely be one of the, if not the biggest, gaming tournament among streamers this year, and we can expect four more days of exciting and hilarious mini-games.

Let us remind you that last year’s edition, co-hosted by Komanche, was a massive success. With nearly 2.3 million Peak Viewers on the final day, it became the most popular Twitch Rivals event ever. The previous top Twitch Rivals event was a Valorant showcase with roughly 700,000 PV. OllieGamerz won SquidCraft against all odds, while notable streamers like Ibai and auronplay boosted the event’s viewership with their commentary after their elimination.
