The VTuber Awards 2023 set peak viewership records for Filian and other VTubers

The inaugural edition of The VTuber Awards was hosted by filian on the night of December 16. The awards show celebrates the wide diversity of the VTuber community, from all corners of the community. From the talent organisations to underground streamers, the awards ceremony celebrated all kinds.

Filian’s The VTuber Awards 2023 was broadcast by almost 50 different channels across YouTube Live and Twitch. The event garnered 278.8K Hours Watched and held over 50K concurrent viewers on average throughout the night.

Filian simul-casted the event on both her Twitch and YouTube Live channel and she was the most popular streamer of the event. Filian’s Twitch broadcast reached 38.4K Peak Viewers, and when her YouTube Live statistics are included she reached a combined peak viewership of 46.3K concurrent viewers. The VTuber Awards 2023 became filian’s most popular content ever, earning far more viewership her previous best, 11.2K PV. 

Many of the streamers to broadcast the event were VTubers who were also nominated for some awards. Streamers projektmelody and camila were among the most popular streamers of the event, and camila even set a new peak viewership record for her channel during the event. Camila was nominated for the Rising Star Award, and even though she would not take this award home, she can at least come away from the awards show with a new personal Twitch record.

VTuber Awards 2023 Winners 

The VTuber Awards inaugural ceremony went down a treat. Tens of thousands of VTuber fans tuned in from around the world to watch the event, and it gave filian and other streamers involved a significant boost to viewership. Filian is a rising star in the VTuber scene, having started her channel in 2021 she quickly built up a large loyal fanbase. Filian currently ranks within the top 100 VTubers worldwide by watch time for the year, and among English-speaking VTubers she ranks within the top 10.

2023 was an important year for the American VTuber. Earlier in the year, the previously independent content creator signed to Mythic Talent, the same talent organisation which has signed Asmongold, Extra Emily, and plenty of other world-famous content creators. Filian also reached 2M subscribers on her YouTube channel and just recently passed 750K Followers on Twitch.

Some devout VTuber fans have criticised the event’s apparent Americentrism, and that more Japanese VTubers should have been represented at the event. While some winners at the event were Japanese, the coverage of the event was largely mono-lingual, with nearly all of the streamers covering the event streaming in English. 

Filian is a hugely popular English-speaking VTuber, but the Japanese VTubing audience might be waiting for their own awards show. Maybe next year filian will expand further into the Japanese audience with a Japanese co-stream, or perhaps the event will bring forward some Japanese VTuber awards shows. Other smaller awards shows have been hosted throughout 2023, but filian’s was the most popular VTuber-exclusive awards show hosted.
