How the release of Warzone 2.0 revived the interest of the audience in the game

How the release of Warzone 2.0 revived the interest of the audience in the game

The original Call of Duty: Warzone was released almost 3 years ago, and the long-awaited release of Warzone 2.0 (which took place on November 16) breathed new life into Activision's battle royale. In the new article, Streams Charts will tell you how much the audience of the game has grown on Twitch, which streamers are leading in the category, and how popular the shooter is on other platforms.

Warzone 2.0 brought back some elements removed from the original game, as well as introduced many new features. In addition to the Al-Mazra map, which the developers have been working on since 2020, the shooter has added a new DMZ mode, reminiscent of Escape from Tarkov, and all the mechanics from Modern Warfare II. Also appearing in Warzone 2.0 were the new types of equipment, various NPCs, and the ability to interrogate a defeated opponent.

In addition, the developers have modified the fights in the Gulag, and the narrowing circle in the battle royale mode is now divided into several parts in the final stages, and then recombines. Note that the original Warzone was relaunched as a standalone game called Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera.

On November 16, the day of the release of Warzone 2.0, the game attracted more than 618.8K Peak Viewers and almost 188.1K Average Viewers. This is 1469% and 1164.3% more than the respective figures of the shooter for November 15. At the same time, the Peak and Average channels broadcasting the battle royale on the day of release grew by 545.5% and 248.5%, respectively.

It should be mentioned that 618.85K Peak Viewers is only the third-best result in the history of Call of Duty: Warzone. On April 22, 2021, at the start of the third season and the Nuke event, the game attracted more than 1.6M Peak Viewers, and on August 19 of the same year, during the Battle for Verdansk event, the shooter attracted more than 725.1K Peak Viewers.

The most watched Warzone 2.0 streamer on Twitch is Symfuhny, having accumulated 3.2M Hours Watched in the 29 days of December. The top 5 by this indicator at the time of publication of the article also includes chowh1TeePeeAydan, and Recrent.

Note that although Warzone 2.0 is a new game title, it continues to be streamed on Twitch in the Call of Duty: Warzone category. At the same time, the broadcasts on YouTube and Facebook Gaming already belong to a new category.

There was a dedicated Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 category on Twitch, but it was used for broadcasting only during the presentation of the game and the provision of early access to streamers.

If 30 days before the release of Warzone 2.0, the game gathered about 16K Average Viewers on Twitch, then at the end of December this figure reached the mark of about 59K Average Viewers. At the same time, the Average Viewers on YouTube Facebook Gaming grew from 2K to 9K and from 5K to 5.7K, respectively.
