As we enter the final quarter of the year, Streams Charts has taken a look back across Q3 at the most popular and most successful live-streamers of YouTube Gaming for this period. As we’ve come to expect from the most popular YouTube Gaming streamers, VTubers were some of the most popular types of streamers, alongside mobile gaming creators and variety streaming representatives from all across the globe.
Most-watched YouTube Gaming Streamers in Q3 2023
Jonathan Liandi was the most-watched YouTube Gaming streamer of the quarter, and the only creator to garner more than 8M hours of watch time during the quarter. The Indonesian broadcaster is most well-known for his Mobile Legends: Bang Bang content, especially community casting. The most-watched broadcasts of his throughout the period were his streams of various ML:BB esports events.
Behind Liandi in second place was Pekora, a VTuber from Japan who is signed to the hololive agency. Pekora is consistently one of the most-watched creators on YouTube and her fanbase has consistently supported her and boosted her to the top of these charts in 2023. Although Pekora’s usual content is highly watched, her most-watched stream for this period was a 24-hour live-stream event hosted in July. The event was split over three streams, and she received 1.96M Hours Watched for the event.
NOBRU of Brazil was the second mobile gaming creator of this ranking and came third overall in terms of watch time for the quarter. NOBRU’s content for this period was mostly his usual Garena Free Fire Ranked content, where he streams himself competing against other players for a Battle Royale victory. Garena Free Fire is hugely popular in Brazil, and NOBRU represents this new wave of mobile gaming in live-streaming for the region.
Finishing just outside of the podium places was Kuzuha, another VTuber from Japan. Kuzuha is signed to NIJISANJI and is one of the biggest VTubers in the industry. Kuzuha is largely known for his Ark: Survival Evolved content, one category that he is often seen covering on his broadcasts. However, of the total 6.39M Hours Watched accumulated by the streamer, the most-watched singular streams for Q3 2023 were his GTA streams.
In 5th place was another Japanese creator, this time it was jun. Jun is a YouTube creator and live-streamer that goes live a lot less than other creators on this ranking, but nevertheless draws in huge viewership. In fact, of the top 10 most-watched creators for Q3, jun was the only channel to record fewer than 200 hours of broadcasting time throughout the three-month period. Jun streamed a variety of games throughout the period, refusing to be boxed into a single category.
After jun came our third Japanese creator in a row, Koyori of hololive, another VTuber for the ranking. Koyori amassed 5.45M hours of watch time in total, and of her streams for this period, none stood out as particularly special. Koyori achieved her massive watch time through consistent and dedicated streaming, rather than any special event stream that brought in large viewership. Of all the top 10 streamers in this ranking, Koyori recorded the most broadcasting time, with 481 hours of Airtime in total.
Following three Japanese creators in a row, we returned to Indonesia for 7th place on this ranking with Windah Basudara. Windah Basudara is a hugely popular YouTuber with over 11.7M Subscribers on the platform, and throughout Q3 he dived into live-streaming on the platform and saw a 139% increase in his broadcasting time. The Indonesian is a variety streamer and his large YouTube audience helped him to draw in over 5.3M Hours Watched for the Q3 period.
Moving past Windah, the two-time DrDisRespect was the 8th most-watched YouTube Gaming creator of Q3 2023, and the only English-speaking creator on our ranking for this quarter. The Doc has been enjoying first-person shooters across the past few months, broadcasting mainly Valorant and Counter-Strike off the hype for CS2’s release. Although he mainly broadcasted these games, his most popular content of this period was his MADDEN 24 stream.
Coming to the end of our most-watched streamers for the period, LoLzZz Gaming of India received 4.89M Hours Watched for the quarter thanks to his Battlegrounds Mobile India content. LoLzZz is the largest Indian creator of YouTube gaming and also the sole Battlegrounds Mobile India creator. LoLzZz appeals to his demographic of mobile gaming enthusiasts and received a large amount of watch time for the period, despite his low Subscriber count compared to streamers like DrDisRespect or Windah Basudara.
Last but not least, Nexxuz World finished up our ranking as the most-watched Spanish-speaking creator of YouTube Gaming for the period. Nexxuz World received 4.61M Hours Watched throughout the period thanks to his variety content, and he worked hard for this watch time, recording 365 hours of Airtime throughout the quarter.
Most Popular YouTube Gaming Streamers by Peak Viewers of Q3 2023
Looking towards the most popular YouTube Gaming streamers of Q3 by peak concurrent viewers, DjMaRiiO took the top spot with 348K Peak Viewers. The Spanish streamer reached this high peak viewer count during his coverage of the 2023/2024 Champions League Groups Draw, where the groups for one of the biggest football events of the year were decided.
Following behind the Spaniard, was VTuber Maimoto Keisuke (舞元啓介). The Japanese VTuber reached 176K Peak Viewers during a bittersweet farewell to streaming. On the 17th of August, he announced that he would be taking an indefinite hiatus from live-streaming starting on the 1st of September. Although he is saying goodbye to live-streaming for now, his farewell stream was able to become the second most popular YouTube Gaming broadcast of Q3 2023.
In third place was American live-streamer and content creator IShowSpeed. The American fell just outside of our top 10 most-watched streamers of Q3, but he managed to rank third in the Peak Viewers metric. He went live to 173K Peak Viewers to live-stream his channel reaching 20M subscribers on YouTube, which took a while as fans do what they normally do in this situation and play with the streamer by unsubscribing. Eventually, he did reach the 20M mark and he was also the most-subscribed-to live-streamer of our rankings.
Just outside of the podium places was once again Pekora. The VTuber reached 149K Peak Viewers during her 24-hour marathon broadcast, where she was helped by the appearance of other VTubers in various collaborative events. Another familiar face to these rankings, Jonathan Liandi reached 147K Peak Viewers, falling just behind Pekora. The Indonesian reached this peak thanks to a community cast of the MPL Indonesia, streaming the game between RRQ and ONIC.
xBuyer, a Spanish content creator, managed 6th place in the rankings thanks to his King’s League coverage. The Spanish streamer watched his own team compete against El Barrio in the Kings League finals on the 29th of July, where he reached 125K Peak Viewers, making it his most popular stream ever.
The final non-Japanese live-streamer on our rankings, JONATHAN GAMING, another Indian creator who covers Battlegrounds Mobile India, reached 121K Peak Viewers during his birthday special live-stream. Interestingly, the streamer reached his exact Peak Viewers figure, 121 858, twice during the same live stream, 20 minutes apart.
The final three creators of these rankings were all VTubers, and 椎名唯華 / Shiina Yuika and リゼ・ヘルエスタ -Lize Helesta- are both members of the NIJISANJI VTuber agency. They both achieved their respective Peak Viewers count during a special event hosted by their agency, allowing these relatively smaller VTubers to collaborate with others and generate hype for themselves. Finally, Subaru, who is a usual appearance in our most-watched rankings, achieved her Peak Viewers figure for Q3 during a Minecraft stream, where she reached 106K Peak Viewers.
Most Popular YouTube Gaming Streamers by Average Viewers of Q3 2023
Average Viewers allows us to look at the general popularity of live streamers across the entire Q3 period instead of a singular peak in viewership, and Jonathan Liadni was the most popular streamer of Q3 by this metric. He was the only broadcaster on YouTube Gaming for this period to achieve more than 40K Average Viewers.
Liandi was followed by various large content creators we have already looked at, such as jun, Pekora, and DjMaRiiO. However, a new face took up 5th in this ranking, and that was Miko of hololive. Miko is consistently one of the most popular VTubers in live-streaming, and she is a regular appearance in our most-watched rankings for these quarters. However, for Q3 of 2023, she was only live for 103 hours, but she still managed to draw in 26K Average Viewers throughout the quarter.
MARSHA OZAWA of Indonesia ranked 8th with 19K Average Viewers, largely thanks to his coverage of the MPL Indoesia and other ML:BB content. TimTheTatman was the final live-streamer of our Q3 rankings, and reached 18.9K Average Viewers throughout the period, knocking DrDisRespect to 11th place with his 18.5K Average Viewers.
