Last week, Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt made a big announcement to his fans and the broader online community: he’s stepping away from livestreaming to focus on caring for his father, who is battling pancreatic cancer.
The star content creator took to his X handle to notify followers that his "dad's health is really bad” and he has to “take time off to deal with it". He added that because of the severity of his father's condition, he will have to give his full attention until it is resolved one way or another, meaning all livestreams will be on hiatus until that time comes.

Asmongold's father has been going through a lot of health issues over the last few months. What started as a hospital visit for pneumonia ended up revealing that he had acute liver failure, which turned out to be pancreatic cancer.
As a result, Zack's father began chemotherapy, but complications quickly arose. The online star even spent one difficult night "sleeping on the floor next to his dad's bed" after his father struggled to breathe following treatment.
Brief on Asmongold's livestreaming career
The 35-year-old is one of the most well-known streamers globally today. His alternate Twitch account, zackrawrr, has been one of the most-watched channels on Twitch over the last few years. In 2025, his zackrawrr channel is ranked seventh among content creators by Hours Watched (HW) across livestreaming services.

Asmongold also joined Kick in June, since when he has been livestreaming on two platforms simultaneously. He made it clear he had no plans to leave Twitch, but saw multistreaming as a way to reach a wider audience, saying, "I think multistreaming is the future. Focusing on a single platform and forcing exclusivity is limiting for content creators".
His debut on Kick attracted almost 112,000 Peak Viewers (PV), putting him among the platform's 40 most popular channels this year. However, it is not the numbers that mark him out; rather, it is his reputation and impact on viewers that have made him such an influential figure this decade.
It is unclear how long this hiatus will last, but judging by the severity of the case as described by Asmon, it could be a while before fans see him online again. Streams Charts wishes him and his father the very best and a speedy recovery for the latter from his medical complications.
