Even as a remake, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is easily one of the summer's biggest releases. Ubisoft gave the classic pirate game a complete visual overhaul, and the early reception suggests players were more than ready to jump back in.
It currently sits at an 84 on Metacritic, putting it ahead of all the recent mainline entries, including Valhalla, Odyssey, Origins and Shadows.
The launch day numbers on Twitch were strong too, with the game quickly climbing the directory in both total Hours Watched and Peak Viewers. Still, even Edward Kenway's return could not quite match the massive launch day crowds that tuned in for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced viewership statistics
Over its first five days on Twitch, Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced accumulated 5.7 million Hours Watched. During that period, streams of the game averaged 49K concurrent viewers and peaked at 145K viewers.
Yes, Assassin's Creed Shadows easily beat the Black Flag remake across the board. But it is worth keeping in mind that we are comparing a polished-up classic to a brand-new mainline entry.

Even if the Black Flag remake could not keep pace with Shadows, its first-day numbers are still a massive win next to other recent high-profile releases. For one, it drew a larger Twitch crowd, both on average and at its absolute peak, than Forza Horizon 6. Plus, it actually had more individual creators streaming the game at the same time than 007 First Light did during its own launch window.

On launch day, the Black Flag remake climbed to fourth among Twitch's most-watched categories, squeezing right between Valorant and Dota 2.
Most popular Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced streamers

American creator TheBurntPeanut completely dominated the game launch stats for the Black Flag remake, pulling in over 807,000 Hours Watched on his own.
When you look at where the top channels actually came from, streamers based in the US and Russia locked down almost the entire top ten, accounting for almost all of the day's biggest broadcasts.

When looking at peak concurrent viewers, TheBurntPeanut took the lead again, pulling in about 43,000 people at once. Zack “zackrawrr” Hoyt and Erik “GRONKH” Range also finished in the top three by Peak Viewers. It's worth noting, however, that many of the creators in the top 10 spent very little time actually playing Black Flag Resynced. They showcased the remake to their audiences but quickly moved on to other content rather than making it a major part of their streams.
