2022 has been a year marked by great events. Some broke viewership records, while others were able to create something unique. Z Event 2022
In 2022, the most watched event was Z Event, with 14.7 million Hours Watched. Z Event is a charitable gaming marathon, that was created, and is also organized, by French streamers ZeratoR and Dach. It brings together some of the most popular French content creators, intending to raise as much money as possible for environmentalist institutions. This year marked the seventh edition of the event.
57 French streamers were together in Montpelier for four days, where they streamed a plethora of games, did multiple challenges, and entertained thousands of French viewers. Some celebrities such as Alain Chabat, and rapper Bigflo, also attended the event. With the streamers' efforts and the viewers' big hearts, they managed to raise a record €10.1 million for Sea Shepherd, LPO, The Sea Cleaners, and WWF. French President Emmanuel Macron even congratulated the streamers, for once again, spreading awareness about the environmentalist issues the world is facing.
AGDQ 2022 Online
Coming in second place, with 14.1 million Hours Watched, we have Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 Online. It’s a speedrun charity marathon, which is normally held in the United States, and is organized by Games Done Quick. This year, because of COVID-19, the event was held online. It gathered multiple speed runners from all around the world, that played from the comfort of their homes. The goal is to raise as much money as possible for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. In this year's edition, the event raised its highest amount ever, with $3.442 million. It entertained millions of viewers, created memorable moments, and most important of all, helped an honorable cause.
La Velada Del Año 2
In third place, we have La Velada Del Año 2, the event of Spanish megastar ibai, with 13 million Hours Watched. La Velada Del Año 2 was a boxing event, that had some of the biggest Spanish-speaking content creators battling each other. It also had musical performances by well-known artists such as Rels B, Nicki Nicole, and Bizarrap. Almost every big name in the Spanish-speaking streaming community was at the event.
With a cast full of stars, the event attracted many big brands. ElPozo King was its main sponsor, but companies such as Everlast, JD Sports, and Mahou, also sponsored it. There was never a dull moment at La Velada Del Año 2, and with so many stars in just one place, records were bound to be broken. It became the most popular Twitch stream ever, with an astonishing 3.3 million Peak Viewers.

Sidemen Charity Match 2022
The Sidemen Charity Match 2022, is the only event in this list that was mainly broadcasted on YouTube. It had been three years, since the popular group of content creators from the United Kingdom, Sidemen, had organized their football charity match. The event puts the Sideman vs the YouTube Allstars, which as the name indicates, is a team composed of the biggest content creators on the platform. YouTube stars such as MrBeast, Chunkz, Yung Filly, and IShowSpeed, were some of the big names that participated in the match.
The event took place at the Valley stadium, in front of a live crowd of 27K fans. It was watched for 6 million hours, reaching a worldwide audience of 2.8 million Peak Viewers. Similar to Z Event and to AGDQ, it raised money for multiple charities. This time, it raised more than £1 million for institutions such as Campaign Against Living Miserably, Teenage Cancer Trust, Rays of Sunshine, and M7 Education. However, it didn't only attract the interest of millions of viewers from all around the world, since big companies also wanted to have their names associated with the event. Brands such as Specsavers, JD, Prime, and YouTube Shorts, sponsored the match.
RTA in Japan Summer 2022
Closing the list, we have RTA in Japan Summer 2022, with 5.1 million Hours Watched. It's the largest speedrun marathon in Asia, and attracted millions of viewers. It's very similar to Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 Online. Players come together to speedrun plenty of games and raise money for charity. This year the event was held online, and Invincible Time was its main sponsor. Worth noting that, Invincible Time prepared special merch for the event. A part of the proceeds from the sales went to the players, and the majority of it went to the Doctors Without Borders charity organization.
When it comes to the most popular events of the year, La Velada Del Año 2, and the Sidemen Charity Match 2022, take the first two places respectively. Both events were relatively short compared to others in terms of Airtime, and attracted a huge concurrent audience of millions of people.
Eleven All-Stars : France vs. Spain
Closing the podium we have Eleven All-Stars : France vs. Spain, with 1.7 million Peak Viewers. It was a football match, organized by aminematue, that put some of the most popular content creators from France and Spain against each other. The event had a professional referee from the D1 Arkema league, a VAR system, and a commentary duo of Quentin “Quento” Mengual, and sports journalist Alexandre Ruiz. It took place in the Jean-Bouin, in front of a sold-out 20K audience. It was sponsored by gigantic brands such as Adidas, Xbox, and Canal +. It was a very well-planned and executed event, providing fans with a memorable football match.
PREMIOS ESLAND by TheGrefg
TheGrefg is one of the biggest Spanish content creators on Twitch, and this year he decided to create an event that awarded the best creators of the Spanish-speaking community. That event was called PREMIOS ESLAND, and reached a big audience, having 1.066 million Peak Viewers. Famous streamers such as ibai, Mixwell, and AuronPlay, were present at the ceremony. Worth noting that, ibai won multiple awards, including the streamer of the year one.
GP Explorer
In fifth place, we have GP Explorer, with 1.044 million Peak Viewers. It was a unique event, where the participants had to train hard for many months, just to be ready for it. The event was a Formula 4 race, among the most popular French content creators. Streamers such as Gotaga, Joyca, and Amixem, participated in it.
GP Explorer was organized by French streamer Lucas ‘Squeezie’ Hochard, and took place in the historic Le Mans Bugatti circuit, where 40K French fans watched the race live. The event cost around 2.5 to 3 million euros, as organizing an event of this magnitude is neither easy nor cheap. French car manufactory Alpine was the main sponsor of the race.
There were plenty of unique events organized throughout 2022, but these were the ones that captivated the most viewers. Streamers are always looking to create bigger and better events, that will reach a huge audience, and entertain thousands of people. In 2023, we can expect more one-of-a-kind events, and we may even see some new viewership records.
