Dune: Awakening, the brand-new open world MMO from Norway’s Funcom, has taken the livestreaming world by storm during its release week. After jumping to the top of the charts during its early access, its official release saw it generate millions more Hours Watched (HW). Now, a week after release, Streams Charts takes a look back at how the game has performed so far.
Originally, the title was available in early access for those who pre-ordered the deluxe edition from June 5. Between its early access and release, the game generated roughly 7.7M HW, as covered in our previous article. After officially releasing on June 10, many more flocked to check out the title — both streamers and viewers, leading to another 10.37M Hours Watched in its release week.

For its opening week, Dune: Awakening was broadcast across five major livestreaming platforms by almost 5,700 Unique Channels. In order of watch time for the new game, Twitch led ahead of SteamTV, YouTube Gaming, Kick, and lastly, Trovo. SteamTV in particularly saw an abnormally high amount of use during the Dune: Awakening release week, even more than doubling the watch time recorded on YouTube Gaming.
In total, across its early access period and release week, Dune: Awakening generated 18.62M Hours Watched on major livestreaming platforms. A significant amount of its viewership came from the United States, which made up almost a quarter of total Twitch viewers for the title. The other top-ranking countries also represented Western audiences, spread out across the Americas and Europe.
With shy of 19M Hours Watched in hand, Dune: Awakening is one of the most-watched game releases of 2025 so far. The new title on Arrakis fell just behind The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which, although a surprise release, was one of the most hyped releases in recent memory for many gamers. However, Monster Hunter Wilds remains the most-watched release of the year, with a significant lead ahead of the rest of the competition.
Notably, Dune: Awakening and Assassin’s Creed Shadows benefitted from early access releases. These two titles were able to generate viewership in the days leading up to their official release, while the other top game releases of 2025 in our ranking were either surprise releases, or had no early access option available.
Dune: Awakening enjoyed a powerful launch, accumulating millions of Hours Watched across its early access and official release week. The title has landed in the top 5 game releases of 2025, a marked achievement for the title to land-between games from world-famed, triple A studios.
