FC Barcelona breaks YouTube record with star-studded Asia tour kickoff

FC Barcelona breaks YouTube record with star-studded Asia tour kickoff

FC Barcelona has set a new YouTube record, drawing 783,113 Peak Viewers (PV) during a friendly match against Japanese club Vissel Kobe. It was the most-popular livestream in the Catalan team’s history.

As part of its preseason preparations, FC Barcelona kicked off an Asian tour that includes several friendly matches against local teams. On July 27, the Spanish giants faced off against Vissel Kobe, the reigning champions of Japan’s J League. The match was streamed in full on Barcelona’s official YouTube channel and drew an impressive number of viewers.

Much of the buzz surrounded the club’s newest signings, who joined the team for the tour. Among them were Marcus Rashford, Roony Baghdadi, Joan García, making this game a must-watch for fans eager to see the newcomers in action. Barcelona showed no signs of struggle in their opening match, delivering a confident 3:1 win.

While 783,113 PV is an impressive milestone for Barcelona’s YouTube channel, it doesn’t come close to the all-time highs in football livestreaming. For instance, Paris Saint-Germain’s official channel drew over 1.37 million PV during a friendly match against the Riyadh Season Team (Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, and Kylian Mbappé vs Cristiano Ronaldo). Even more remarkably, Turkish club Galatasaray shattered expectations by pulling in 3.25 million PV during the official unveiling of their new signing, Leroy Sané.
