Most popular livestreamed football events over 2023-2025

Most popular livestreamed football events over 2023-2025

It was a pretty busy 2024 for football in livestreaming, with a whole host of new hybrid leagues popping up to fill a space created by the humungous success of the Ibai and Gerard Pique-led Kings League. This hybrid tournament remained the leader, though, attracting thousands of viewers even as it expanded to bring in competitions involving women, nations, and kids.

Nevertheless, fans of the beautiful game also witnessed the birth of tournaments like the Icon League and the Baller League. This was in addition to streamer and ex-footballer-led exhibition games like the Sidemen Charity Match, Eleven All Stars or Beta Squad vs. AMP.

However, the best was reserved for the end, when the massively popular regional football tournament, the ASEAN Championship, rewrote the record books when it came to peak concurrent viewers. It also reiterated the growing influence of professional football competitions, which have begun putting up better viewership numbers than sports events hosted by content creators.

In fact, the livestreaming of these pro football competitions, including major ones like the UEFA Euro 2024, the AFC Asian Cup, and the 2024 ASEAN Championship, have enjoyed humongous viewership. Be it easily available official broadcasts, reaction streams from top content creators, or watch parties, these tournaments have been attracting millions of viewers.

Most popular recent livestreamed football events  (2023-2025)

Atop this list is the most recent competition to have taken place, the 2024 ASEAN Championship, which recorded an astonishing 10.74 million Peak Viewers (PV) during the final second leg between Thailand and Vietnam. This was the highest figure ever reached for any livestreaming event as per the Esports Charts database. The Southeast Asian tournament also broke a lot of other records, and more details on these milestones can be read here.

The UEFA Euro 2024 comes next with 4.34 million PV, with star football broadcaster CazéTV responsible for this figure. The Brazilian sports journalist, commentator, and livestreaming personality, covering parts of this continental spectacle, hit this mark during France's penalty shootout win over Portugal in the Quarterfinals.

Third is CazéTV's coverage of the Campeonato Paulista Série A1 match between heavyweights Corinthians and São Paul. The 3.62 million PV this January 30, 2024, broadcast hit means it remains one of the five most popular livestreams on the YouTube channel of the legendary influencer, also popularly referred to as Casimito.

CazeTV has a third entry within this top ten list in the form of the final of the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup Final. Played between eternal rivals Brazil and Argentina, this live broadcast on YouTube accumulated 1.59 million peak concurrent viewers as the former ran out 2:1 winners to clinch a record-extending sixth world title.

There are a slew of events from the Kings League umbrella that come next, starting with the third-placed Kings World Cup Nations 2025. The inaugural edition of this international competition was held in Italy, with 3.5 million concurrent viewers tuning in to watch the final match, where Team Brazil emerged as the champion.

The first-ever tournament of this media football league, which began on January 1, 2023, is next with 2.1 million Peak Viewers, with the novel concept and exciting hybrid rules proving a huge success. It remains the second-most popular event under the Kings League branding, with only two other competitons crossing the one million PV mark.

There is another exhibition football series with two entries here, with the Sidemen Charity Matches from 2022 and 2023 crossing 2.7 million PV each. Hosted by the famous British YouTube group of the same name, these matches between influencers and internet personalities on the red platform regularly sell out whatever stadium they are held in, raising millions for charity organizations.

Another Asian football event is next, with the AFC Asian Cup 2024, the Eastern continent's equivalent of the UEFA Euro 2024, touching 2.2 million PV. Last but not least is another all-influencer exhibition game, with the ELEVEN ALL-STARS 2 match between France and Spain — filled with controversies — accruing 1.75 million peak concurrent viewers, led by the efforts of captains aminematue and DjMaRiiO.
