The first 13 days of Kai Cenat's latest live-streaming exercise Mafiathon 2 have captured the imagination of the community. His daily broadcasts have sped up the number of Twitch subscriptions he receives daily to never-seen-before levels and set a benchmark that will be next to impossible to beat for any other content creators that follow.
Readers must note that Mafiathon 2 is the second edition of the subathon that initially put Kai Cenat on the rocket to Twitch superstardom. Like his other activities involving non-stop broadcasting, this one has also helped the 22-year-old touch new landmarks.
None were bigger than his reclaiming of the Twitch subscribers record from ironmouse, with the American just crossing 384,615 subs at the time of writing. In fact, the Mafiathon 2 has witnessed him gain 22,646 subs a day, something that was almost thought to be outside the realms of possibility.
After all, this rate is far ahead of any other subathons that previously held the all-time mark, be it Kai's own Mafiathon 1 or ironmouse's recent endeavor. While the former earned 5689 subs per day over the first 13 days, the superstar VTuber's five-week-long exercise notched around 7543 subs daily.
The differences between the first two-odd weeks of the 2024 subathons of ironmouse and Kai Cenat were also stark. The former attracted 98,066 subscribers during this period, eventually reaching the record mark around a month into her annual charity subathon.
Kai Cenat has been streets ahead in terms of viewership, too. Ironmouse registered 2.63M HW between September 1 and 13, which is a lot less than what her colleague managed in his 2024 attempt between November 2 and 14. The difference in the followers gained by the two was also pretty significant, as the Puerto Rican sensation acquired 16,656 followers.
The viewership figures have been much closer between the two Mafiathons, but the first 13 days of broadcasts this year have done a 47% higher watch time despite cumulatively airing for three hours lesser. This has also made Kai Cenat by far the most-watched channel across live-streaming services this month, outperforming even official organization channels on YouTube Live, which does not happen often.
What has helped Kai Cenat attract so many subscribers this time, apart from his fame, is the variety of guests who keep popping up and the tidbits of news they have provided. He has had his family appear on stream to celebrate regaining the subs milestone while hosting celebrities like Fanum, Serena Williams, and Marshmellow.
During one of these live streams, he also announced a show with Fanum covering the streets of NYC. It will feature Shawn Fonteno, the voice actor of Franklin Clinton, one of the main protagonists in Grand Theft Auto V. Fonteno was also a guest on one of the Mafiathon 2 broadcasts, wowing fans by uttering the Rockstar Games offerings' iconic line: "Aw shit, Here we go again."
Tennis legend Serena Williams appeared on Day 10 of the subathon, but that could not help drive up the number of subs obtained. It was the lowest figure achieved over 24 hours during the first 13 days of the Mafiathon 2, with the fact that it was a Sunday perhaps adding to viewers' decision not to follow the broadcast as much as the other days.
Marshmellow, meanwhile, made a special appearance on Kai Cenat's stream and even DJ-ed a silent party at the Mafiathon 2 Mansion. He also previewed an unreleased Juice WRLD verse to audiences that will be featured on his upcoming album.
Kai Cenat also revealed to viewers that Kick had offered him $60 million to stream half of the first Mafiathon. The New York native was to then announce that he had officially signed with the Stake-backed platform, but he declined the offer to stick with Twitch.
During the Mafiathon 2 so far, Kai's chat has used a lot of emotes to convey their feelings with each other and their favorite streamer. Some of the most used emojis have been kaicfiremgm, kaicsturdyy, and kaicenat, each being sent at least 159K times.
Some of the main games Kai Cenat has streamed include Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Getting Over It: Mafiathon Edition, a title he helped bring to life. However, the Just Chatting and I'm Only Sleeping genres have taken up a substantial chunk of his watch time in the first 13 days, taking up almost 95% of the overall pie.
This shows that the subathon has remained as followed as it has despite the lack of any gaming content. Audiences have been happy to watch the hijinks of their favorite streamer and his friends as they play various games indoors and outdoors, talk to guests, and just generally have a good time on air.
Readers must note that I'm Only Sleeping is not exactly a popular genre, but Kai chose to make the most of the time he spent sleeping by making it entertaining for his viewers. The internet personality has hired an actor who cosplays Marvel's Miles Morales (Spiderman) while he and his buddies get some shut-eye, and this content has gone viral.
Another milestone worth highlighting is that at the start of the tenth day of his subathon, Kai Cenat crossed 14 million followers on Twitch, making him just the fifth online personality ever to do so. The leader in this table remains fellow American star Ninja, who has just over 19 million followers on the purple platform.
Having rapidly risen through the ranks after the success of the inaugural Mafiathon, Kai Cenat has slowly been catching up to the most followed Twitch content creators. It was only in July 2024 that the American youngster overtook xQc to reach the top five on the leaderboard, and there will be a bunch of Spanish sensations up next for him to take down.
The first 13 days of the 2024 subathon have also put him atop the live-streaming charts as the most-watched creator on Twitch in November 2024. Such has been the hype for his 24x7 broadcasts that he has attracted 405% more watch time than any other content creator, with no one else even crossing 7M HW.
There's plenty more to come from Kai Cenat as his subathon will last until the end of the month, at the very least. Fans, and ironmouse, are hoping he can come close to the one million subscribers mark by the end, and while he is certain to top viewership charts, it remains to be seen how much support he receives from followers in helping create uncharted history.
