It's time for another monthly recap of the viewership numbers reached by our favorite platforms, and in this article, Kick will be under the scanner. Having launched at the start of the year, the Stake-backed company has slowly gained a footing in the industry, helped by the fact that it has been able to bring in industry giants like xQc, Amouranth, and yourrage.
Looking at the monthly numbers, August was the first time the streaming site hit 100M hours of watch time since its inception. This continued its trend of watch time improving month on month, with the Average Viewers also going up by 13%. However, after a steady rise in Peak Viewers between May and July, last month saw the growth hit red, falling by 25%.
Of course, the development is not as stark or consistent as during the Spring, but there are enough signs to suggest there's much more to come from the green platform. Lastly, despite a lot of bot activity in July, last month saw higher mean growth in concurrent and average online viewers, apart from the former's first week.
Most watched categories on Kick
As always, the number one entry on this list is Just Chatting, which grew by a whopping 33% from July to record 34M HW. However, its peak concurrent viewership fell by an almost similar number, showing that retaining viewers during a broadcast simultaneously is not that easy a task.
Second is Slots & Casino, which may be a distance away from the top spot but has grown by 57% compared to the previous month. In fact, it grew in almost all the meteric across August, showing that there's been a proliferation of new streamers in this genre. Following it is Grand Theft Auto V, which recorded the largest month-on-month rise of 700%, thanks to the likes of mrstiventc, buddha, drb7h, and orangemorange being highly active after Rockstar Games' update on Cfx.re — the team behind the developer's biggest roleplay and creator communities, FiveM and RedM.
Coming in fourth is Other, Watch Party, which climbed up a spot this month by improving its watch hours by a bit from July. Rounding off the podium is Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, which also went up a place in August while seeing a good leap of 180% in its peak concurrent viewership.
The bottom five positions have three games — Fortnite, Overwatch 2, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive — and two categories. One of the latter is Pools, Hot Tubs & Bikinis, which fell from the fourth spot in July as the initial excitement around Amouranth's entry has come down. Music was a surprising entry, although it had been on the fringes of the top ten over the past few months.
It also has to be noted that Overwatch 2 has seen some major success across platforms after the launch of its sixth season and its release on Steam. The likes of xQc, a former e-athlete in the game, playing it for long hours helped it rack up some solid HW numbers and make this leaderboard.
Most watched Kick channels
Adin Ross is back atop this table after missing out last month, with the former Twitch star continuing to push the boundaries of what seems acceptable and what is not when broadcasting live. Whatever the case, he continues to enjoy massive support online as fans arrive in droves to watch each of his streams.
Second is xQc, who is getting into an intriguing battle with this month's topper regarding who is the most watched name on the platform every month. Next is fousey, who streaked into this leaderboard for August thanks to a subathon that had its up and down moments but ensured to keep him in the public eye.
Westcol is fourth, which was the same position he finished in during the July rankings, although his HW number did fall by 17% thanks to being on air for less time. Fifth is trainwreckstv who made a comeback to this list after missing out last time, with his streams mainly focusing on the gambling genre.
The subsequent five names include two names (Roshtein and IcePoseidon) who made the top five in the previous month but fell down the ladder here. Mellstroy789 and ac7ionman increased their watch hour stats in August to ensure they made this standing while yourrage, who only joined the site in the middle of the month, proved his popularity by still finishing in the top ten.
Most watched female Kick streamers
Topping the list of female content creators is a familiar name, Amouranth, who continues to be the foremost name among women streamers on the green platform. The American's popularity on Twitch was massive enough, but her move to Kick seems to have kicked it into a new gear, and fans continue to wait in anticipation for her every move and broadcast.
Crystal is second this month, a jump of three places from July despite her watch hour number dropping by 16%, a general trend observed among the top five. Next is corvifeon, who also climbed six positions to make the podium for August although she had an identical drop in her stats MoM.
Fourth is neonjade, who was riding a popularity wave just a few months ago that saw her consistently place in the top three but has had to do with a few mid-table finishes recently. Last among the best five is thedandangler, who fell from second last month after taking a hit of 64% on her watch hours.
The last five names have a much more positive outlook to their achievement for August, with four of them — xlent, shadowsovari, hummdog, and chopstix — earning their place here thanks to rises in their HW stats. The only exception is woodbabee, who can still point to the fact that she placed higher than in July even though her numbers dropped by 11%.
The central content for these female content creators remained categories like Pools, Hot Tubs & Bikinis and ASMR. However, one name does stand out in that regard, with chopstix focusing 95% of her time playing Fortnite, and if audience response is anything to go by, we might see her stick to this plan for the near future.
