Kings League regular season recap
Share:

Kings League is without a doubt one of the biggest live-streaming events of the year, and its regular season, which ended last weekend, amassed impressive viewership numbers. Streams Charts presents the current data on the football media league.

The Kings League has reached the latter stages of its inaugural run, with the regular season of the Winter Split ending on March 19. Ultimate Móstoles, Porcinos FC, Los Troncos FC, Saiyans FC, Kunisports, Xbuyer Team, Aniquiladores FC, El Barrio are the eight teams to have made the playoffs stage, which comprises the quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place match, and final and will be held from March 24 to 26.

The event has been a massive success so far, with the idea to simultaneously broadcast it on TwitchYouTube, and TikTok working wonders in terms of viewership and popularity. What has also helped is the fact that many football legends have been part of the league, either in a playing or official capacity, along with the fact that big names from the entertainment world like ibairivers, and TheGrefg own the teams.

Kings League's basic viewership numbers and dynamics make for good reading Kings League has amassed millions of Hours Watched so far and peaked at over 2.11 million concurrent viewers

Established by Gerard Piqué in 2022, the Kings League is a seven-a-side football competition comprising 12 teams, with each side allowed to bring in a 12th player for every match. This slot is usually given to celebrities and former footballers, with the likes of Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero, Joan Capdevila, Ronaldinho, and Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez playing as 12th men.

The fact that the tournament operates under different rules to normal football, including a tie-breaker penalty shootout, allowing handballs for throw-ins, unlimited substitutions, and the implementation of special "secret weapons," has also helped it garner eyeballs from the world over. Another interesting tidbit is that the winning team can take home the trophy until the second split, the Summer one, begins a few weeks later.

Ronaldinho's match brought in the most viewers  The match featuring football legend Ronaldinho brought together the majority of viewers

Adding to the excitement is the fact that the semifinals, third place match, and final of the Kings League will be held as a 'Final Four' event at the Camp Nou. Apparently, tickets are close to benign sold out at the stadium, with more than 80,000 tickets to the final already sold as of Monday.

Pique will also look to break the Guinness World Record for the most people simultaneously wearing costume masks, which currently stands at 30,050. He and the organizers will be giving attendees masks shaped like a king, the tournament’s logo, in an attempt to set a new record at the iconic football stadium.

Whatever onlookers might feel about the entire exercise, there is no denying that the Kings League has caught the attention of millions of football and entertainment fans globally. Breaking the Guinness World Record would only be another feather in the cap of an event that can surely count its maiden season as a successful one.
