On May 22, Miss Universe Philippines 2024 was held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines. The fifth edition of this contest was the first to be contested by delegates who were chosen by local pageants under the Miss Universe Philippines Accredited Partners Program.
This beauty pageant created history as well, with Bulacan's Chelsea Anne Manalo emerging as the winner and becoming the first Black woman to be selected to represent the archipelagic country at the main Miss Universe event. She received the crown on this momentous night from 2022 winner Michelle Dee of Makati.
With the hype surrounding this event adding to the historical result, the live broadcast of the coronation night of the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 pageant on the Empire Philippines channel hit 548.4K Peak Viewers. This was easily the creative agency's most successful stream, also reaching 1.4M Hours Watched and 346K Average Viewers over an airtime of four hours and 15 minutes.
Furthermore, it made it to the top of the most popular live streams leaderboard for the past week, beating out a mixture of popular esports events and personalities across platforms. This includes the highly successful MPL Indonesia Season 13, Kai Cenat, and MixiGaming.
Chelsea Anne Manalo will now have the honor of representing her nation at Miss Universe 2024, which will be held in Mexico. Details of the venue and date are not yet known, although, so far, 17 nations have crowned their contestants who will compete for the title. Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua is the incumbent title holder and will be present to crown her successor at the end of the pageant.
Getting back to the Miss Universe Philippines 2024, its live stream has become one of the most popular ones related to the globally renowned competition since January 2023. One live stream each from the previous two Miss Universe competitions is in the top two, with the coronation night of last year's Philippines event coming in at number four.
In fact, the coronation broadcasts of the last two Miss Universe Philippines events were more popular than the finals of the last two main pageants. Clearly, people in this Southeast Asian nation take this competition very seriously, stemming from the fact that it has won four crowns so far, with the last one coming in 2018 via Catriona Gray. This puts it fourth on the all-time list, behind the United States (9), Venezuela (7), and Puerto Rico (5).

When looking at the main Miss Universe channel, it is clear that recent events have seen a growth in their viewership figures. Its most successful live broadcasts are entirely from the last two editions, and judging by the anticipation and excitement seen so far, this year's event promises to be just as followed and watched.
It will witness many returns and debuts for countries alongside a continuation of the new rules implemented recently. With the contest returning to one of its spiritual homes, Mexico, which last hosted an edition in 2007, there will be no shortage of takers for tickets, which will also be made available at a later date.
