VTubers continue to dominate in terms of popularity among girls in live streaming: more than half the content creators to enter the top ten in terms of total watch time from Q1 to Q4 2023 are those with 2D avatars.
Most Watched Female Streamers 2023
The Japanese VTuber Pekora from the hololive agency became the most-viewed streamer in 2023. For 12 months, her YouTube broadcasts generated more than 29.7 million Hours Watched. Pekora primarily hosted streams in the Gaming category, playing titles such as Minecraft, Street Fighter, Apex Legends, Dark Souls, and others. It's worth noting that Pekora increased her viewing hours by 44% in the past year.
The second spot on the female ranking belonged to the Mexican streamer rivers_gg. In 2023, her Twitch channel amassed 22.5 million HW. Rivers_gg most frequently conducted streams in the Just Chatting section, alongside titles like Minecraft or Fortnite. She was often seen in collaborative broadcasts and events with other streamers. Her sports broadcasts gained particular popularity last year, where she covered matches from the Kings League and Queens League.
The third position in the top rankings was held by the Japanese VTuber Koyori, also representing the hololive agency. Throughout 2023, her YouTube channel accumulated 21.8 million HW. During her streams, Koyori engaged with viewers on various topics, solved puzzles, played indie titles, performed requested songs, and so on. Overall, her content didn't differ significantly from what other female VTubers produce.
The fourth position by year-end was secured by the VTuber ironmouse. What sets her apart from other digital avatar girls is her residency in the USA and conducting streams in English. In 2023, ironmouse's Twitch channel gathered 18.8 million HW, which is 8% less than her 2022 numbers. ironmouse often interacts with fans in 'Just Chatting' but also collaborates with other streamers, playing popular titles like GTA V, Minecraft, Lethal Company, among others.
Another representative from hololive in the female top list is the Japanese VTuber Miko. Her YouTube streams generated around 18.1 million HW in 2023. During her broadcasts, Miko primarily plays various titles, offering quite a diverse selection including Mario Party, Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto V, Soulcalibur VI, Minecraft, and more.
At the sixth spot in the rankings with 17 million HW, we have Subaru — another VTuber from Japan and yet another member of hololive. Subaru's content is quite similar to her agency colleagues, although she leans towards game franchises like Yakuza, Persona, Final Fantasy, and Resident Evil.
Korean streamer Jinnytty claimed the seventh spot in the top list with 16.1 million HW. Jinnytty doesn't often play games during her streams; however, she excels in creating excellent travel vlogs from her trips. Last year, she extensively traveled across Southeast Asia, sharing her experiences on Twitch.
The eighth position is held by another South Korean representative on Twitch — VTuber saddummy. Throughout the year, she conducted numerous gaming streams covering various game releases such as Hogwarts Legacy, Starfield, Diablo IV, Baldur's Gate 3, and more. However, her primary focus remained on playing Minecraft and League of Legends. Overall, her channel amassed 15.3 million HW during the year.
Canadian streamer Kyedae accumulated slightly over 13 million HW on Twitch last year. What distinguishes Kyedae from other females in the top list is that almost all of her streams are dedicated to a single game – Valorant.
Closing the top 10 is the Japanese VTuber Akamikarubi. In 2023, she managed to generate 12.5 million HW on Twitch, primarily through streams featuring Valorant, Grand Theft Auto V, Street Fighter 6, and other titles.
QTCinderella, a Twitch streamer from the USA, emerged as the top female streamer in peak viewership for 2023. In March, she hosted the Streamer Awards 2023 ceremony, drawing over 354.7K Peak Viewers. This marked the second-highest record for QTCinderella's channel.
Claiming the second spot in the ranking is the Japanese VTuber Pekora. In April, she hosted a stream for the Hololive Puyo Tet Tournament, gathering over 242K Peak Viewers on her channel. This marked a new record for Pekora, surpassing her previous highest stream of only 173.6K viewers.
Mexican streamer rivers_gg secured the third position with 213.8K Peak Viewers (a new channel record). She achieved this audience during the Queens League final between the teams PIO FC and Las Troncas.
Japanese VTuber Marine amassed 175K Peak Viewers during a stream, setting a new record for her channel. This occurred in November during the Showa Song Festival, where popular hololive VTubers performed.
Japanese VTuber Hyakumantenbara Salome from the NIJISANJI agency claimed the fifth spot in the rankings with 173.5K Peak Viewers. In August, she conducted a virtual tour of her castle for viewers and held a musical concert alongside other VTubers, contributing to her record-breaking viewership on the channel.
Vietnamese streamer Misthy, hosting broadcasts on NimoTV, secured the sixth spot in the rankings. Her most popular stream in 2023 gathered approximately 165.6K Peak Viewers on August 18 during a GTA V broadcast.
In the seventh position is the Japanese VTuber Suisei, representing hololive. In 2023, she marked her record with a stream reaching 159.5K Peak Viewers. This massive audience tuned in for a celebratory virtual concert dedicated to her birthday.
Miko amassed 145.9K Peak Viewers in the past year, securing her place in the top 8 by year-end. Similar to Suisei, Miko's most popular broadcast was a virtual concert held for her birthday, featuring other hololive members.
VTuber Uruha Ichinose from the Virtual eSports Project agency claimed the ninth spot in the rankings, reaching 134.8K Peak Viewers (a new record for her channel). She gathered this audience through a stream presenting her own 3D avatar.
Closing the top ten is VTuber Koseki Bijou from the English division of hololive. In July, she hosted a stream that had 127.8K Peak Viewers. During this stream, Koseki Bijou introduced fans to the updated version of her avatar.
Most Watched Female Streamers — Q4 2023
In Q4 of 2023, Japanese VTuber Pekora maintained her lead in the ranking of the most-watched female streamers. Between October and December, her YouTube channel generated over 6.3 million Hours Watched. This turned out to be Pekora's weakest quarter throughout the year, but she still outpaced other female streamers.
Among the newcomers in the top, it's worth noting Akiloze, a rising VTuber star from the Hololive agency. In Q4 of 2023, she accumulated 5.9 million HW, improving her Q3 performance by 874%. Akiloze often streams Grand Theft Auto V and engages with the audience in chat.
The majority of positions in the top of the most viewed female streamers in the last quarter were occupied by VTubers from Japan, primarily streaming on YouTube. Against this backdrop, there's Emiru, an American from the OTK community, and rivers_gg, a Mexican streamer known for broadcasting sports events like Kings League and frequently participating in various shows. In the tenth spot was Mira from Russia, hosting streams in the Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches category.
Most popular female streamers in Q4 2023
The highest peak viewership among female streamers was achieved by VTuber Marine. In November, her channel hosted a broadcast of the Showa Song Festival, featuring many other VTubers from the Hololive agency. That stream gathered over 175K Peak Viewers, marking a new record for Marine's channel.
Japanese VTubers from Hololive secured nearly all the spots in the female top rankings for Q4. The only one who could rival them was rivers_gg. Her most popular stream in the last quarter of 2023 attracted over 100.2K PV — this many people tuned in on her channel on October 14th to watch the Queens League semifinal between the teams PIO FC and Aniquiladoras FC.
Most Watched Female Streamers — Q3 2023
Having been denied last quarter, Pekora Ch. would have wanted to continue in her merry ways and solidify her status as the top dog in the female content creation scene overall, not just among VTubers. However, she fell short as rivers_gg did a good job in finishing with 8.11M HW, the only one to cross that number, mostly thanks to her live broadcasts of the matches in the Queens and Kings leagues, tournaments that have captured the imaginations of Spanish-speaking football lovers across the globe.
Koyori ch. was able to climb up one spot from the previous quarters' rankings, while ironmouse, who shattered records to finish first in Q2's list, fell to seventh after seeing the excitement of her much-talked-about subathon die down. JenFoxxx, another big-time name among women content creators globally, also returned to this list on the back of her highly entertaining Diablo IV gameplay videos.
Subaru Ch. also saw a rise in her rankings, going from sixth to fourth during the most recent quarter. 서새봄냥 is also deserving of a special mention for her ability to keep fans engaged throughout the year, the kind of consistency that has seen her make all three lists so far, and judging by her numbers in October so far, readers can expect to see her name pop up again in year-end and Q4 rankings.
The most popular female streamer list is quite the eclectic collection of names, featuring content creators from Twitch, YouTube, and Nimo TV. While there are the entries, mostly comprising of the abovementioned VTubers, one of the new names is 壱百満天原サロメ / Hyakumantenbara Salome, whose collection of most streamed categories is quite the mishmash that readers will enjoy checking out.
Misthy, the Vietnamese online star, is a surprise inclusion here, although those who have followed her career will not be surprised. The top female streamer in Vietnam also has handles on YouTube and Twitch, but Nimo TV is where she has found most of her success thanks to its thriving game in her country and the Southeast Asian market as a whole.
Most Watched Female Streamers — Q2 2023
According to the results of Q2 2023, ironmouse became the most viewed girl in live streaming. She owes much of her success to her new record-breaking subathon, which placed her in the top 5 streamers by active subscriptions of all time. VShojo representative was on the air longer than all the other girls and collected over 8.6 million watch hours from April to the end of June.
Ironmouse's subathon was so successful that she overtook even Pekora Ch (8.3M Hours Watched) for perhaps the most consistently watched top female in live streaming. The third most popular girl (and the first who is not a VTuber!) is Jinnytty (7.5M HW). At the beginning of summer, the Korean streamer was at the peak of her popularity, and her trip to Taiwan caused a huge stir: these streams became one of the most popular ones in her streaming career.
Notice how Amouranth has retraced in the rankings. In June, the streamer began broadcasting not only on Twitch, but also on Kick: her overall statistics suffered somewhat from this, which is why she rolled back from fourth to ninth place in the ranking. However, it should be noted that this is far from the main reason for Amouranth's drop in the rankings: in the second quarter of 2023, girls (especially top ones) streamed much more actively than in January-March, so the average performance of top creators turned out to be higher than in Q1.
If a kind of parity has been established in the ranking by Hours Watched – the same number of Twitch and YouTube streamers are in the rating – then Japanese VTubers absolutely dominate in terms of peak audience: all ten streamers in the ranking turned out to be representatives of this category of content creators.
Nine out of ten streamers at the peak scored 100 thousand or more viewers. The absolute first place went to Pekora Ch, whose Holo Puyo Teto Tournament stream was concurrently watched by 242K viewers.
Most Watched Female Streamers — Q1 2023
In the Q1 of 2023, arguably the most popular VTuber in the world, Japanese creator Pekora Ch. occupies first place, with an impressive 6.48M Hours Watched. She spent the majority of her time broadcasting in the Gaming category, gained 60K new followers, and had 28K AV. The most popular female Twitch streamer in Q1 was Rivers_gg — she had 6.02M HW, and secured the second spot in global rank. Rivers_gg streamed many sports events like Kings League and the games like Grand Theft Auto V.
Koyori Ch., another VTuber from Japan, secured third place in the ranking. In the first quarter of 2023, her channel accumulated 4.92M Hours Watched. Koyori mainly played games during her live streams, including Minecraft and Bloodborne.
American streamer AMOURANTH came in fourth place in the ranking with 4.18M Hours Watched. The Twitch star often conducted streams in the Pools, Hot Tubs, and Beaches category and entertained viewers by participating in various shows. It is worth noting that compared to 2022, AMOURANTH's views have decreased. This is partly due to the fact that the streamer has reduced the amount of time spent conducting streams.
The first place among the most popular female Twitch streamers was taken by QTCinderella. In March, her channel broadcasted the Streamers Awards ceremony, which peaked at over 354.7K Peak Viewers. This was the best result among female streamers in the first quarter of 2023. By the way, QTCinderella is the most subscribed female Twitch streamer in Q1 2023.
Pekora Ch. 兎田ぺこら took second place with 174K PV. This number was reached on a broadcast that brought together some of the most popular VTubers, where they participated in a Pokémon Karmesin und Purpur tournament, which was hosted by Pekora Ch. 兎田ぺこら. Towa Ch. 常闇トワ peak viewership of 113K was also achieved in a similar event. VTubers battled in a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament, of which Towa Ch. 常闇トワwas one of the hosts.
In third place, we have Rivers_gg with 168K PV. This great viewership number was achieved during the Kings League match where Pio FC, Rivers_gg team, played vs Porcinos FC, the ibai team. Ronaldinho, a former player of the brazil national football team, played as an invited guest in this match.
Most watched Twitch and YouTube Gaming female streamers
If we take a look at only the top five most-watched female streamers on YouTube, we can see the list is fully comprised of VTubers. Pekora Ch. 兎田ぺこら is number one by quite some margin, followed by fellow VTubers Koyori ch. 博衣こより - holoX, and Miko Ch. さくらみこ. On their broadcasts, the girls mainly communicate with the audience and play various games. Most often — Minecraft.
