2024 was an eventful year for VTubers, filled with exciting content that kept fans entertained. They did gaming marathons, virtual concerts, esports showdowns, GTA RP server gameplay, Minecraft challenges, and numerous collaborations. Streams Charts, along with our partners VSTATS, summarized the year by highlighting the most viewed youtubers in livestreaming.
This year, the official NIJISANJI channel made its debut in the top 10, thanks in part to the success of the NIJISANJI COUNTDOWN LIVE event. During this pre-New Year’s concert, the channel set a new record with over 260,000 viewers at its peak.
Lauren Iroas from NIJISANJI and 柊ツルギ from Neo-Porte became standout figures with their GTA V RP server streams, attracting the highest viewer numbers on their channels in 2024. Meanwhile, Koyori Ch. and Subaru Ch. from hololive made waves with a series of high-energy streams focused on Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025, where they competed against other VTubers, drawing massive attention.
When it comes to the top five, there's a lot to say about these standout VTubers and their impact this year.
Ironmouse
Among the most popular VTubers of the year, Ironmouse stands out as the biggest star from the VShojo agency. She’s the leading figure in VTubing outside of Japan and arguably the most popular English-speaking VTuber in the world. In 2024, Ironmouse upped her streaming game, with her airtime increasing by 37%, reaching a total of 3,150 hours and 40 minutes. In terms of airtime, she outpaced every other VTuber in the top 10.
Ironmouse had several memorable streams in 2024, but the one that really made waves was her fall charity subathon, where she broke the active subscription record previously held by Kai Cenat. However, her reign didn’t last long — by the end of the year, Kai reclaimed the subscription crown thanks to MAFIATHON 2.0.
Sakura Miko
Miko Ch. from hololive took the fourth spot in the 2024 VTuber rankings. As one of the agency's longest-standing and most popular creators, her popularity and viewership keep growing year after year. In July, Miko held a special stream to announce the release of her first album and her debut solo concert. The stream was a major hit, becoming her most-watched YouTube Live broadcast ever with 169,519 peak viewers — a record she actually broke on January 1, 2025.
Miko also hit several other milestones in 2024. She topped all VTubers in average viewers per stream, with 33,002 AV, which is one of the most reliable ways to gauge a streamer's popularity. At the same time, Miko had the lowest Airtime among all VTubers in the top 10 — just over 900 hours. Some other VTubers have two to three times that amount, yet still fall behind Miko in total watch hours. This means that Mika can get a larger audience reach in a shorter period of time — that's great quality for any streamer.
叶ちゃんねる
Among the most-watched VTubers of the year is Kanae, another standout from the NIJISANJI agency. In 2024, Kanae became the most-watched VTuber on Twitch, even surpassing Ironmouse in this category. He continues to be active on YouTube as well.
Compared to 2023, Kanae saw the biggest growth on Twitch among all VTubers in the top rankings. His watch hours on the purple platform skyrocketed by 91%, and his peak viewership doubled. In 2024, Kanae set new records for viewers across both of his channels: on June 23, he hit 73,409 viewers on Twitch during a GTA RP stream with his NIJISANJI colleagues. Then, on August 1, Kanae reached a peak of 77,090 viewers on YouTube while streaming Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025.
Usada Pekora
Pekora Ch, the most-watched VTuber from Hololive, claimed the second spot in the rankings. Pekora has been a consistent top performer for a long time and is also the owner of the most popular VTuber channel, with over 2,650,000 subscribers on YouTube. She rarely focuses on esports streams, instead preferring to play indie games or big titles like Elden Ring, Monster Hunter: World, and others.
In 2024, Pekora’s channel generated over 34,600,000 HW, marking a 16% increase from the previous year. Her most popular stream peaked at 181,057 viewers, making it the second-highest of her career. During that stream, she introduced her virtual mom and unveiled new outfit elements for her 2D avatar.
Pekora also generated major buzz with her streams of Dragon Ball Z: KAKAROT, with one of those broadcasts reaching a peak of 165,532 viewers.
Kuzuha
The most-watched VTuber of 2024 was Kuzuha, who has consistently been one of the top names in livestreaming for years. Throughout the year, Kuzuha took part in several major show tournaments and events, including the Crazy Raccoon Cup, The k4sen Con, and LEGENDUS. He also hosted multiple marathons on GTA V and Minecraft RP servers, where he played alongside other popular Japanese VTubers and content creators.
In 2024, Kuzuha spent the most time playing GTA V, but he also streamed a lot of League of Legends, Apex Legends, and Street Fighter 6. His most popular stream of the year was on June 18, when he played on a GTA V RP server with other NIJISANJI VTubers. That stream peaked at 116,960 viewers, making it the second-most-watched on his channel. The only stream that topped it was in August 2021, when he competed in the VCC Apex #3 tournament.
As in the previous year, Kuzuha’s main rival in the VTuber rankings was Pekora. At the end of 2023, the gap between them was just around 1,300,000 HW, but by 2024, Kuzuha had pulled ahead by 5,280,000 HW. He solidified his position with strong growth across all key metrics, with his total watch hours increasing by 28%.
