At the end of May, the streaming service Trovo celebrated its second birthday. To mark this date, Streams Charts sums up the results of this period and tells about the most popular streamers, streaming sections and broadcast languages.
In March 2020, there were rumors in the media that the Chinese investment holding company Tencent had begun testing a new streaming platform by its U.S. subsidiary. In late May, there was an announcement that China's largest telecommunications brand, which had already owned a number of streaming platforms, (Huya, Douyu, eGame, Penguin Esports, Bilibili) had launched its own analogue of Twitch — the Trovo service, which was focused on mobile gaming.
The timing for the launch of the new platform was ideal because of the rampant coronavirus, which meant that people had to stay home and look for virtual entertainment. In addition, in July another failed Twitch rival, Mixer, was announced to be shut down, which meant that many content creators were looking for a new platform for their creativity.
Viewership Statistics
In its two years of existence, Trovo has amassed 486 million Hours Watched in 15.5K hours of airtime. The Peak Viewers number on the platform is 158K people, and the Average Viewers number is 31K. The total number of streaming channels exceeded 179K.
The most popular game on the platform is GTA V with 62 million Hours Watched and 33K Peak Viewers. The Top-3 most popular games also include Call of Duty: Mobile (39 million Hours Watched) and League of Legends (30 million Hours Watched). It is noteworthy that popular FPS broadcasts, such as Valorant and CS:GO, rank only 9-10th, with 17.9 and 13.6 million Hours Watched, respectively.
Among the streamers, the most viewed is a young content creator from Greece ItsOnlySkillz, who mostly streams GTA V: his channel accumulated 2.65 million Hours Watched in 826 hours of airtime.
Second place is taken by DaarickOficial, a YouTuber from Peru. The streamer is known for his gameplay videos and short comic sketches about Minecraft. He also plays Valorant and CS:GO. The Peruvian amassed 2.5 million Hours Watched in 1.8K hours of airtime.
A former Fortnite player from Serbia GUH, who now mostly streams GTA V, CS:GO and League of Legends, rounds out the Top-3 most watched streamers on Trovo. His broadcasts accumulated 2.13 million Hours Watched in an impressive 3K hours of airtime.
The most popular broadcasting language is Spanish, which accounted for 38% of total Hours Watched, and this is not a surprise, because Trovo is highly popular primarily in Latin America and Spain. The share of English language broadcasts is 14%, and in third place by Hours Watched are broadcasts in Russian, which accounted for 12% of total HW. We should remind you that in recent months the number of users and streamers from Russia has increased after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, due to which Twitch and YouTube limited payments to Russian bank accounts, stimulating Russian streamers to look for other platforms to continue their activities.

Since the platform's launch, there have been two partnership programs implemented. The first one, with a budget of $30 million, began at the launch of the platform and lasted until the end of 2021, designed to support beginner streamers. The second one, with a budget of $ 100 million, was announced on the eve of the New Year 2022. The Trovo 500 Program is declared as an open, public affiliate program with a transparent monetization system. It is divided into four regions — green, red, blue and orange. Each region has its own monetization terms and amounts of payments. The developers of Trovo believe that this system will help create a competitive environment, because content creators will compete only within their region.
Trovo is very similar to Twitch in terms of its functionality, interface, and content. However, there are still differences. For example, Trovo introduced its tools to promote unknown and beginner streamers. These tools are Vibetags, Boost Rockets and Treasure Box. In addition, Trovo has its own esports division — Trovo Titans. This site runs tournaments with free entry and cash prizes. Tournaments are held for Europe, North America and Latin America.
