After almost a month, Minecraft star Tubbo has ended his Twitch subathon, dubbed "Tubbathon" by his fans. He started the exercise at the beginning of March and extended it with each subscription received, adding 30K new subs after coming into the month with 9K subs.
The Brit was looking to reach 42K subs, which unfortunately did not come to pass, but he did end up staying live for a grueling 27 days. At one point, he got so many subscribers that the timer went up by a whole five days.
To keep things interesting, he took part in events like QTCinderella's The Streamer Awards, Noxcrew's MCC, and Twitch Rivals' Squid Craft Games The teenager also broadcasted himself sleeping and traveling.
In a neat tidbit, Tubbo is one of the many content creators to do a subathon while participating in Minecraft’s MC Championship. The latest MCC took place on March 18 and was the first event of Season 3.
Tubbo enters Twitch's top ten "most subscribed" channels
The 19-year-old’s ‘Tubbathon’ garnered 4.06M Hours Watched, 28K Peak Viewers, and 6.5K Average Viewers, helping him gain almost 114K followers. These numbers propelled him into the list of the most subscribed channels on Twitch, and he now sits in the sixth spot with a healthy 39K active subs, below his record subscription count of nearly 47K.
Tubbo spent almost 68% of his time Just Chatting with his audiences, while another 18.2% went into playing the game he is famous for, Minecraft. Interestingly, he joined Misfits Gaming, an esports organization, alongside Ranboo, a fellow Minecraft superstar, last year and has been busy creating his own server, TubNet.
Subs and income
Tubbo’s subs count at the end of his month-long venture stood at 40K, and he earned a massive $104K for his efforts, as estimated by Streams Charts. Further breaking down the subscriptions that came in, just above 91% came from Tier 1 subs (35K) and almost 8% from Prime subs (3K), while the remaining amount came from Tier 2 (261) and Tier 3 (142) categories.
For those unaware, with the introduction of local sub-pricing on Twitch, content creators’ income from paid subscriptions is not fixed. Twitch partners have variable contract terms, meaning they can get from 50% to 70% for each sub. Hence, Streams Charts has calculated numerous possible scenarios for earnings, with each furnishing for a 50/50 contract for tier 1 subs, 60/40 for tier 2, and 70/30 for tier 3. Importantly, local sub-pricing does not affect Prime subs, and streamers receive $2.49 per such sub.
Chat details
Tubbo got 3.9 million messages during his subathon, amounting to 98K Active Chatters. This led to a Chat Engagement Rate of 14.9%, meaning around every 15 out of 100 UAVs tuned in to his chat every time he engaged with his viewers.
Having worked hard to make the subathon a success, Tubbo has been getting praise from all corners, including his fellow streamers. While he deserves a break after such a lengthy broadcasting exercise, it remains to be seen if he does take time away or returns soon enough to enthrall his fans with more content.
