The end of summer was notably dynamic for Twitch. In August, the platform experienced growth in nearly all metrics, except for peak viewership, which fell by 38%. This drop brought the metric back to its usual levels after a significant spike in July due to Ibai's highly successful La Velada del Año 4.
There was also a substantial 9% increase in the number of channels during peak times, driven by the release of the beta version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at the end of August. The latest edition of the game by Activision Blizzard has prompted many streamers to broadcast gameplay, and viewers can earn Twitch Drops by watching these streams until September 9.
Compared to August 2023, total watch time decreased by 4.8%, and the average number of viewers fell by 3.8%. Despite this, there was a slight rise in the counts for peak, average, and overall channels. Peak viewership increased by just 1.4%, showing minimal change. Overall, the platform's metrics are relatively stable compared to the previous year, without a clear upward or downward trend.
