The new versions of FIFA and NBA2K, Deathloop, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt, and, of course, New World. In the new article, Streams Charts overviews the debuts of September's latest game titles and made the rating by main Twitch stats.
The domination of a medieval MMORPG
New World is a new MMORPG from Amazon Game Studios Orange County. In September, it was this game that captured the attention of the community. After all, the gamers have been waiting for the game for the whole five years - that is how much time has passed since the title was announced.
Game’s Hours Watched went up starting from the very first day after the release, due to several reasons:
- Obvious interest in a brand-new MMORPG;
- In-game integration with Twitch, which makes it easy to stream directly from the game;
- Twitch Drops containing skins.
The second day after the release was the game’s most successful one: 13M Hours Watched and 569K Peak Viewers. Many of the big names among the platform’s streamers have immersed themselves into the game, something that greatly influenced its indicators. By the end of the week, the game's Hours Watched dropped by half, but New World was still more popular than the rest of the titles in our selection.
Fextralife became the most popular New World streamer in terms of Hours Watched. For 142 hours on air, his broadcasts accumulated 9.4M Hours Watched. Meanwhile, Shroud is leading by the Peak Viewers indicator (171K). In just seven days, the game has collected 64M Hours Watched. Of these, 66% were brought by English-speaking viewers, followed by the German-speaking ones (8%).
FIFA stays ever-popular
FIFA 22 became the second biggest newcomer of the month. In just a week, the new version of the football simulator collected 24.3M Hours Watched. In the case of FIFA 22, the audience was more diverse than that of New World: 33% of the Hours Watched was contributed by German-speaking viewers, and 26.5% by English-speaking viewers. Castro_1021 became the most popular FIFA 22 streamer with 3.3M Hours Watched and 122K Peak Viewers.
The popularity of the rest of the new titles turned out to be much lower as compared to New World and FIFA 22. For example, NBA 2K22 generated 7.2M Hour Watched, and AdinRoss became the game’s top streamer with 11M Hours Watched and 95K Peak Viewers.
There is a new battle royale title named Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodhunt, which continues the legendary series. In the week since its release, Bloodhunt generated 2.6M Hours Watched.
How was the performance of single-player games?
Deathloop, a new game from Bethesda, tells the story of Colt, an amnesiac man who entered a time loop. The game is built around an interesting mechanic: the goal is to kill eight visionaries before midnight, and a failure to do so results in a rollback to an earlier point in the story.
Deathloop generated 4.6M Hours Watched. Such a relatively unsatisfactory result was due to single-player games tending to quickly lose their relevance on the platform, given that viewers often spend on broadcasts only a couple of days before going to play the game themselves.
Other top-notch single-player titles include Tales of Arise (a Japanese anime-style RPG), Kena: Bridge of Spirits (an adventure game with Disney-themed visuals), and Lost Judgment (a Japanese beat-em-up RPG). The results of these titles on Twitch were average.
New World has taken the lead in September, exceeding the rest of the titles both in terms of Hours Watched and Peak Viewers. Such a result was achieved thanks to the direct integration with Twitch and free Twitch Drops loot. However, the game’s outstanding performance was predictable in any case: out of the top titles, online games always tend to gather more viewer interest as compared to the single-player ones.
