Streams Charts continues to sum up the results of streaming in Q3 2022. In our new article, we analyze Twitch's overall statistics from July through September, as well as the most popular categories, streamer associations, languages, and streaming channels during this period.

Twitch viewers totaled more than 5.6 billion Hours Watched in Q3, a 1.2% increase over the previous quarter. This is largely related to an increase of more than 2% in the average number of active channels on the platform. At the same time, Twitch's Peak Viewers number decreased by 4.5%, while the Average Viewers number remained almost unchanged.

English retains the title of the most popular language on Twitch, accumulating more than 45% of the platform's HW total in Q3. Spanish comes in second place with 11.3% of HW. Portuguese, Russian and German are also in Twitch's Top 5 languages, amassing 7.4%, 5.92% and 5.9% of the platform's HW total in Q3, respectively.

Most Popular Twitch Categories in Q3 2022

Nothing unusual happened, as the most popular Twitch category by a wide margin in terms of Hours Watched is still Just Chatting. At the same time, its performance for the quarter fell by 5%. League of Legends is in second place, losing almost 10% of HW number. Meanwhile, Valorant moved up one spot in the rankings, displacing GTA V from third place, thanks to high views of the game's esports tournaments. The discipline result grew 14% over the quarter, while the HW number of the game by Rockstar dropped only slightly (<1%).

Minecraft rounds out Twitch's Top 5 most watched categories, more than doubling ist result over the quarter, owing it to TortillaLand 2 and other events by Spanish-speaking streamers.
