Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl V: Tailgate Edition brings together influencers, pro football stars

Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl V: Tailgate Edition brings together influencers, pro football stars

The Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl V: Tailgate Edition was held between February 8 and 9 in partnership with the National Football League Players Association. The fifth iteration of the Streamer series saw a $50,000 charity prize pool where duos consisting of Twitch streamers and NFL stars competed against each other in numerous IRL and video game challenges to emerge as the Ultimate Tailgate Champion.

This Twitch Rivals event hit 107.2K Hours Watched41K Peak Viewers, and 33K Average Viewers over three hours of airtime. Unsurprisingly, its live broadcast was most popular towards the end, when the Finale Challenge was reaching its conclusion and the winners' identity was almost decided.

This edition saw the likes of Tyler1, erobb221Caroline Kwan, and Will Neff in action among a total of 16 participants. There were five challenges that eight teams of two players each had to compete in, with the top two going head-to-head in an IRL Finals.

The list of challenges was as follows:

  • Intro Challenge - The Warm-up Drill (IRL)
  • Challenge 1 - Wild Card Football
  • Challenge 2 - 3rd Quarter Munchies (IRL)
  • Last Chance Challenge - Hail Mary (IRL)
  • Finale Challenge - Playoffs (IRL)

At the end of all these challenges, NiceWigg and Trevor Lawrence emerged as the Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl V: Tailgate Edition champions. They beat the team of LuluLuvely and Jordan Love 1:0 after five rounds of intense action Playoffs, where they did battle on a mirror course with five different challenges.

When it comes to the most successful channels, apart from the main Twitch Rivals handle, Tyler1 emerged as the most watched and popular individual streamer. He was also the only content creator to cross 10K PV even though his campaign alongside partner Alvin Kamara ended in the sixth spot after they finished with nine points at the end of the Last Chance Challenge.

Among the five editions of this Twitch Rivals extravaganza, the latest one sits near the end of the pile in terms of viewership numbers. However, given the previous four events were held on maps in Fortnite, one of the most followed games out there, this is not unexpected.

While the Streamer Bowl V: Tailgate Edition did not light up the viewership numbers, it did keep the Twitch Rivals franchise in the news ahead of a weekend when the biggest game in America, the Super Bowl LVIII, was to take place. It also continued the good work done by IlloJuan's Hunt & Run event from January, which became the series' most popular event in almost a year.
