2023 has been an interesting year for streaming and its proponents, no less thanks to the emergence of platforms like Kick and Rumble that continue to challenge the perceived hegemony enjoyed by the likes of Twitch and YouTube Live. As a result of this battle for supremacy, streamers have also seen increased competition to remain relevant among audiences, meaning a lot of them have raised their game and scaled new heights.
One such name is xCry, the Twitch broadcaster witnessing a steady growth in his channel's numbers over the last ten months. All this effort culminated in the Spaniard hitting a new channel record of 624K Peak Viewers, which came during a Halloween-related livestream on October 27.
It also made him the most popular Twitch channel this month, beating the next-best entry by a massive 119.1%. This is quite the achievement considering the sheer number of big-ticket esports tournaments running across October, including the League of Legends Worlds Championship 2023 and Dota 2's The International 2023. Moreover, xCry is now the sixth most popular channel across the entire year, sharing space with the likes of Twitch luminaries such as ibai and TheGrefg.
Titled CALABAZAS DE HALLOWEEN CON YERI (Halloween Pumpkins With Yeri), it was record-breaking in more ways than one, as it also became his most-watched video ever, hitting 926K Hours Watched. The Barcelona-born social media star, who now resides in Guadalajara, Mexico, is known for his Just Chatting clips, apart from playing various video games like Cooking Companions, Roblox, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Euro Truck Simulator 2.
The broadcast featured the popular Mexican influencer Yeri Mua, which no doubt played a part in its success. Interestingly, the two have also been romantically linked recently, although nothing has been confirmed by either party, further adding to fans' anticipation to see the clip when it ran live.
Yeri Mua, for her part, is a highly successful internet celebrity in her homeland. The Veracruz-born starlet is best known for her beauty and modeling content on Instagram (9M followers) and YouTube (443K subscribers). She has also released a few songs, helping her accrue a net worth of over a million dollars.
Returning to xCry's broadcast, it also helped xCry gain 821K followers another leader for the month, which also takes his overall count to 2.35M followers. That these stats were achieved over just one hour and 50 minutes of streaming shows just how much hype there was around him and Yeri Mua getting together for a collaborative effort.
Having posted such large numbers, it remains to be seen where the 24-year-old ends up in the monthly rankings that are a staple of Streams Charts' coverage.
