Oone of the most popular streamers in the world Felix xQc Lengyel changed the name of his Twitch channel from xQcOW to simply xQc. The removal of only two letters (which were the abbreviation of Overwatch) caused the fans of the Canadian to react strongly. Some rejoiced at this event, while others called this “an end of an era” and started bidding farewell to the “Mr Cow” meme.
The xQcOW channel was created in 2014. Back then, Lengyel was just starting to broadcast Overwatch and later became a pro player. XQc competed in the Overwatch World Championship for Team Canada in 2017, 2018, and 2019 before retiring as an esports player.
XQc was the most viewed streamer on Twitch in 2020 and 2021 and continues to hold this title in 2022. From May 1 to May 20, Lengyel amassed more than 14M Hours Watched and is ranked second in terms of this indicator only to Gaules, who is currently actively covering PGL Major Antwerp 2022 matches.
XQc occasionally broadcasts Overwatch, but devotes most of the time to other games, with the Canadian's most popular category being Just Chatting. As Lengyel is no longer associated with Overwatch in the way that he used to be, his decision to remove "OW" from the channel's name seems quite logical.
