Disguised Toast is open to joining YouTube

Disguised Toast is open to joining YouTube
Share:

Disguised Toast is one of the biggest, and more well know streamers on Twitch. The 30 year old streamer is part of OfflineTV, one of the biggest streamer groups in the world, and is a veteran of the streaming world. He has sponsorship deals with very well-known brands and has already organized some big streaming events.

The streamer is no stranger when it comes to changing platforms since he already did that once. In 2019, the streamer and influencer moved from Twitch, where he was one of the biggest streamers on the platform, to Facebook for two years. The reason for the change was a bad deal offered by Twitch according to Disguised Toast himself, and that left the streamer with no other choice but to join Facebook.

Now it's not Facebook, but YouTube that the streamer is contemplating joining.

In a recent live stream Disguised Toast talked about the possibility of changing platforms. He touched on the fact that Twitch gave 30 million to NICKMERCS, according to Ludwig, and that he was hoping this time he would be able to negotiate a good deal. But at the same time, he said that Twitch left Ludwig, who was the streamer of the year, leave which we all know didn't make a lot of sense.

What makes it worse is that according to Ludwig himself the platform didn't make a lot of effort to keep him, while YouTube showed they wanted him on their platform and made the streamer feel more valuable, which in the end was the deciding factor.

However, Disguised Toast didn't sound too confident that he was going o receive a good deal from Twitch, even saying "I don’t know if I will get a big bag from Twitch. Maybe I’ll just move to YouTube".

In the recent past, we have seen many big names switch from Twitch to Youtube, and the majority of them as found a lot of success in the new platform. Streamers such as Valkyrae, CourageJD, Dr Disrespect, TimTheTatman, DrLupo, Ludwig, and most recently Sykkuno, Myth, and LilyPichu have all chosen to leave Twitch.

The pros and cons of joining Youtube

The grass is always greener on the other side, but still, nothing is perfect. YouTube has done a great job in the last couple of years becoming a place where streamers want to go, and in the process, it became the biggest threat Twitch has ever faced to its throne in the streaming industry.

However, there are still some aspects where Twitch has the upper hand. Youtube has strict regulations when it comes to DMCA protection and takedown services, especially when it comes to streaming copyrighted material, such as songs or shows.

This would impact Disguised Toast a lot since he likes to stream anime, which is something he wouldn't be able to do on YouTube. But there is still an even bigger issue for Disguised Toast, and that is fan interactions. According to the streamer, "The live interaction on YouTube is not as good as Twitch", and we all know that being able to interact with your chat is crucial for any streamer. He also thinks it's harder for streamers to establish themselves on YouTube.

But just like there are some cons to joining YouTube, you can also find some big pros. One of them is that YouTube would probably give Disguised Toast a better deal than Twitch. After what happened with Ludwig, I would be surprised if Twitch would go all out for Disguised Toast, and offer him a similar deal to what NICKMERCS got.

YouTube also funds a lot of their streamers projects and events, which is one of the reasons Ludwig joined the platform, and would benefit Disguised Toast since he likes to create big streamer events, and this could make it even easier for him to do it.

Disguised Toast already has a very well-cemented YouTube channel with 3.7 million subscribers, so I don't think it would be hard for him to cement himself.

The implications of losing yet another big streamer

Despite saying he "lost his mojo", didn't know what content to make, and hasn't streamed as regularly as at the beginning of the year, Disguised Toast numbers speak for themselves. With an Average Viewers of 27K, it's safe to say Disguised Toast is still one of the biggest streamers on the platform.

It would be a massive loss for Twitch to allow Disguised Toast to leave for YouTube, their biggest rivals, and a company that is steadily closing the gap to Twitch. Disguised Toast is a variety streamer that can pull a good amount of viewers independently of what game he plays.

These are the type of streamers platforms want the most, because they are not forced to play one or two specific games in order to achieve big viewership numbers, and Disguised Toast is a very creative person that can create the "new meta" of Twitch, as he has done before.

Keeping Disguised Toast would be a big win for Twitch, but it would be an even bigger win for YouTube if the creator decided to take his talents to their platform.
