Fans eagerly anticipate Elden Ring's upcoming expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, to release on June 21. Critics have already weighed in with praise, giving the DLC a score of 95 out of 100 on Metacritic. Popular Twitch streamers are riding the wave of excitement, engaging their audiences with Elden Ring content to build anticipation for extended play sessions focused on Shadow of the Erdtree.
Elden Ring has recently seen a surge in popularity, partly sparked by Kai Cenat's remarkable 100-hour marathon where he defeated all in-game bosses live on stream. This feat catapulted him into one of his channel's most-watched broadcasts, adding to his acclaim as one of Twitch's few streamers with over 10 million followers.
Kai Cenat's marathon ignited significant enthusiasm among fellow streamers, prompting others like Jynxzi to attempt similar feats. Jynxzi managed to complete the game in just 48 hours, a notably faster time compared to Kai's 167 hours. Despite this, Jynxzi didn't surpass Kai in viewer numbers, although his Elden Ring marathon proved highly successful in terms of total hours watched and growth in followers.
Just before the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree, the Elden Ring category surged to the top ranks on Twitch. Between June 17 and 19, viewing hours and average viewers shot up by 55%. The daily average of channels streaming Elden Ring rose from 1.9K to 2.7K. Many prominent streamers such as Mizkif, zackrawrr, ohnePixel, shroud, EsfandTV, Sykkuno, and others jumped into the action, broadcasting the game. What's intriguing is that most of these streamers don't usually focus on Elden Ring or similar genres like BarbarousKing, yet they all turned their attention to the title shortly before the release of Shadow of the Erdtree.

At present, the Elden Ring category holds the third position among Twitch's top categories, following Just Chatting and Grand Theft Auto V. However, with the upcoming release of From Software's DLC, it's expected to ascend further. We foresee that after June 21, it will draw gameplay from nearly all prominent Twitch streamers, along with popular content creators on other platforms.
