It has been quite the year for streaming across the board, with subathons becoming the norm and destinations like Kick and Rumble becoming the new fad. Amongst all this excitement is also the fact that many content creators have had record-breaking 2023s, both personally and in terms of taking the entire industry ahead.
The likes of Kai Cenat, ironmouse, and ibai have shown that with the proper content and quality of videos, it is possible to shatter milestones previously not thought possible. The American youngster, especially, has had a great year, and his start to July saw even more records being broken.
During a broadcast that also involved musical artist Fanum and YouTuber Duke Dennis, Kai Cenat broke a channel record by hitting 306K Peak Viewers, beating his previous record from November 2022 by 8.1%. The trio entertained audiences by chatting about different topics and playing various games throughout. It also ended up being his most popular stream by Average Viewers while placing second on the list of number of followers gained.
However, it was not only the 21-year-old who broke his peak concurrent viewership record over the past week. ohnePixel, the German star also known as the king of CS:GO skins, also reached a new personal record by doing 236K PV during a stream that involved the opening of an astounding $130K worth of cases, sticker capsules, and souvenir packages. It ended up giving him just $400 worth of items but created a new world record as droves of fans tuned in to see what would happen. In fact, it was 155.5% better than his next most popular broadcast, which came on May 12 and has become his most popular video across metrics on Twitch.
Highly-popular Mexican streamer rivers_gg was the third name to reach a new high after notching 198K PV for her return stream after being away for a little under a week. Titled 'back home,' it also became her most successful broadcast ever on the purple platform, hitting new highs in all the metrics and solidifying her popularity among Spanish-speaking fans and those from the Just Chatting genre across the globe.
There were a few organizations in this weekly list, too, including Kings League, Rocket League, and Diablo, each enjoying audiences' attention for different reasons. Diablo has had one of the most successful debuts for any game ever on the Amazon-owned site, while ibai's entertaining variation of a competitive football League that includes some legendary names from the sport in action continues to attract viewers from across the world.
The RLCS 2023-23 - Spring Split Major's success was what propelled the official channel to some great heights over the first week of the month. This high in viewership numbers also bodes well for the World Championship that begins next month.
The first half of this year has seen a lot more ups than downs for the streaming industry, and with the supply of quality videos mostly matching the demand among fans, we are in for an interesting second half of 2023. What we can be sure of is that this is not the last we have heard about the success of the usual suspects on such lists.
