July has come to an end, and it's time to summarize the results of Q2 2022. In the new article, Streams Charts will talk about the most popular English-language streamers of Twitch and the overlap of their audience, as well as list the most-watched categories in this language segment.
Compared to Q1 2022, total Hours Watched by the top 100 English-speaking Twitch streamers dipped by almost 11% in Q2. Top creators in this language segment have generated just over 650.5M Hours Watched, which is almost 25% of the amount generated by all the English-language streamers on the platform. At the same time, they contributed 11.7% to the total Hours Watched on Twitch in Q2.
When it comes to the contribution of individual countries, the United States, as always, was in the lead. Its creators collected over 63% of the group’s total Hours Watched. Like in the previous quarter it was followed by Canada (19.6%), Sweden (7.9%), the UK (2.5%), and Australia (1.6%).
Most popular English-speaking streamers on Twitch in Q2 2022
XQc has once again become the most popular streamer not only in the English-speaking segment but across the entire Twitch. The Canadian generated more than 70.6M Hours Watched over Q2, which exceeds his Q1 indicator by 12%.
Asmongold improved his performance by as much as 46% and moved Trainwreckstv (whose Hours Watched decreased by 23%) from the second spot. These changes are directly related to the increase and decrease in the airtime of these creators in Q2. Closing the top 5 most popular streamers in the segment were loltyler1 and tarik, who improved their performance by 15% and 26%, respectively.
HasanAbi dropped four spots in the rankings at once as his Hours Watched decreased by 35%. ROSHTEIN, summit1g, and Mizkif retained their sixth, seventh, and tenth spots in the top, while their indicators increased by 6%, 8%, and 1%, respectively.
NICKMERCS returned to the top where he occupies the ninth spot with 13.8M Hours Watched. It should be noted that he managed to overtake AdinRoss – which was the only change to the layout of the top 10 English-speaking streamers.
Most popular English-speaking female streamers on Twitch in Q2 2022
Amouranth has regained the title of the most popular female streamer both in the English segment and across the entire platform. Her Hours Watched increased only slightly, while those of Q1 leader Ironmouse decreased by 69%, causing Twitch’s most popular VTuber to drop to the sixth spot in the top.
In the case of pokimane and fuslie, Hours Watched decreased by 11% and 29% respectively, but the Canadian streamer moved up from the fourth to the second spot, while the American streamer dropped from the second to the fourth spot. The indicator of 39daph decreased by 14%, and the girl dropped from the sixth to the seventh spot.
Newcomers to the quarterly rankings this year are Jinnytty and Kyedae, whose Hours Watched have shown a strong increase of 87% and 42%, respectively. At the same time, Shylily and Sommerset left the top 100 English-language streamers of Q2, losing more than 50% of their Hours Watched.
Most popular English-speaking Twitch categories in Q2 2022
The most popular category, Just Chatting, only strengthened its claim to the first spot, generating 24% more Hours Watched in Q2 as compared to Q1. The performance of GTA V, which ranked second for two quarters in a row, decreased by as much as 70% – which is why the category took only the seventh spot. Because of this, Slots and Apex Legends moved up one spot and entered the top 3.
Closing the top 5 most-watched categories were Valorant and League of Legends – and this time the shooter turned out to be more popular than MOBA. In Q2, Valorant's Hours Watched grew by 20%, while those of LoL decreased by almost 6%.
Fortnite climbed from the ninth to the sixth spot in the rankings, while its Hours Watched dropped by 11%. The performance of Lost Ark dropped by 67%, leaving the category in the eighth spot. At the same time, Elden Ring and Escape From Tarkov dropped out of the top 10 most popular categories. Closing the top 10 were Dota 2 and CoD: Warzone rounded out the top 10.
Audience overlap of the most popular English-speaking streamers on Twitch
We calculated the audience overlap between the five most viewed English-language streamers in Q2 2022. It turned out that from 43% to 48% of audiences of tarik, loltyler1, and Asmongold tend to also be the viewers of xQc. At the same time, the audience of Trainwreckstv overlapped with the audience of the most popular streamer by as much as 63.3%.
Tarik has the most unique audience among the streamers from our list. Attending his broadcasts are only 14% of xQc viewers, less than 10% of Asmongold's viewers, less than 16% of Trainwreckstv viewers, and 13.5% of loltyler1's viewers.
