Top Asian streamers of 2024

Top Asian streamers of 2024

Asian livestreaming in 2024 saw content creators from various countries show out. While Japan's internet stars continued to push fighting games into the wider community, Korean streamers ensured that League of Legends (and the LCK) continued its worldwide growth. There were also Vietnamese influencers like Phùng "MixiGaming" Thanh Do, whose broadcasts attract thousands, helping him put up numbers that rival the best in the business, and sometimes even beat them.

The continent also saw plenty of changes in terms of platforms, with Twitch exiting main markets like Turkey and Korea, leading to the birth of new contenders like SOOP (Korea and Global) and CHZZK. Apart from these two new names, there was also an exodus of content creation talent to other platforms like Kick and YouTube.

Note: With stats for the entirety of 2024 now available, there have been some changes to these rankings, which have been necessarily updated.

Nevertheless, the output was not affected, with the yearly watch time for streamers from this continent witnessing a rise of over 6.7%, with a few days left. Interestingly, SOOP Korea had a lot of representatives on this leaderboard despite still being a fledgling service, pointing to the importance of the South Korean market in the Asian livestreaming scene.

Readers must note that these rankings do not take into account Chinese livestreaming platforms due to the unreliability of their data. Moreover, the leaderboard does not consider streamers from the MENA region as they have been put into a separate list.

10 — K4sen

K4sen is one of the biggest Asian League of Legends content creators. He initially caught the attention of the online world by co-casting and participating in various community competitions in Japan, and that's where his path to fame began.

The Osaka native would also post YouTube commentary videos on Call of Duty: Black Ops II, giving him his first brush with fame. With his charisma ensuring a rise in popularity, the internet star joined ZETA DIVISION as a streamer in 2021. Under this brand, he not only posts content but also hosts competitions for both pros and other influencers across multiple games.

K4sen is also the CEO of Denei Laboratory, a company that undertakes projects in various spheres. Started by a bunch of influencers and in partnership with ZETA DIVISION, it provides various services to users in the fields of graphic design, casting, and movies.

In 2024, the 33-year-old streamed a variety of titles, including Final Fantasy XIV Online and Rust, while also occasionally giving fans a glimpse into his life with Just Chatting content. His broadcasts have been quite successful, with his first solo offline event, The k4sen Con, becoming his most popular livestream to date.

9 — らっだぁ

らっだぁ, also popular as Rader or Radao-kun, is a Japanese Twitch star known for his GTA V content. He is one of the game's most-watched streamers globally, having finished sixth in 2023 and improved on that by being second so far in 2024. Interestingly, he is a streamer who has not revealed his face, often wearing his signature mask when in public or taking photos, nor has he disclosed much about himself.

The 32-year-old influencer almost exclusively streams GTA V, as seen from the fact that it takes up over 73% of his cumulative watch time in 2024. He is especially fond of the roleplay servers, with Stogra RP (also known as Stogura) being his favorite as he even shares his gameplay videos on YouTube.

Minecraft was another title that Rih played extensively in 2024, being one of the influencers to participate in Japanese gaming facility and clothing/merchandise brand Vaultroom's (VCR) week-long Minecraft server in September that put it atop the Twitch and YouTube Gaming charts. In fact, a recent broadcast of VCR's GTA V RP server ended as his third-most popular livestream ever.

8 — 叶ちゃんねる

叶ちゃんねる, also known as Kanae, is another prominent VTuber who is part of the NIJISANJI group of content creators. He runs channels on both YouTube and Twitch, although it is on the purple platform where he is most active, thanks to his love for Grand Theft Auto V, by far his most played game last year.

Other titles that the Japanese online star enjoyed in 2024 were Street Fighter 6, League of Legends, and Minecraft. Many of the most popular livestreams on his Twitch channel came last year, and most of them involved GTA V, with his participation in its Stogra roleplaying server — also known as Street Graffiti Role Play or STGR — attracting lots of viewers.

Kanae's YouTube channel was a lot more diverse in terms of gaming content, with titles like Monster Hunter: World and Apex Legends getting much attention. He also played a lot of Powerful Pro Baseball 2024-2025, which is highly popular among VTubers in Japan, with these creators coming together to play a lot of fun events as well.

7 — Pekora Ch.

Pekora Ch., or Usada Pekora, one of the most popular VTubers going around today, comes in the sixth spot. She has a solid rise of 16% in her YouTube Live numbers last year compared to 2023, but with so many competitors vying for viewers on the red platform, her yearly global ranking still dropped by 89 places.

However, her 2024 performance was enough to see the hololive member finish as the most-watched Virtual Asian YouTuber in 2024. The Japanese star's content last year has revolved around games like Elden Ring and Monster Hunter: World. Quite a few of these livestreams ended up among her most popular, with Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot being the game with the highest peak concurrent viewership.

In September, Usada Pekora started her own Minecraft server, part of an event she's organizing where fans need memberships to her channel and Discord accounts to join. Users have limitless opportunities in the server and can go on adventures or craft buildings, and the online star revealed that it costs her over a million JPY to maintain, although she states that she is happy to meet those costs as long as players have fun.

6 — Kim " 와꾸대장봉준" Bong-jun

와꾸대장봉준 is a Korean former StarCraft pro gamer who is one of the four SOOP Korea names on this leaderboard. Apart from his professional playing career, Bong-jun’s 2024 was primarily focused on League of Legends and Minecraft. He also created a significant amount of content IRL, with these entertaining broadcasts helping him to become one of the new platform’s top stars.

He was also creating content IRL, with his entertaining broadcasts making him one of the fledgling platform's top stars. Having finished as the top name on AfreecaTV over the previous two years by watch time, it looks like the 33-year-old's streak will finally end.

5 — Han "한동숙" Dong-sook

Another former Twitch star, 한동숙 moved to Naver's CHZZK once the former shut down operations in Korea earlier in 2024. He was the new platform's most-watched content creator last year, finishing as the only one to cross 30 million Hours Watched (HW).

In 2024, the 35-year-old's two main games have been Minecraft and LoL, with the latter giving him his most popular livestream of 2024 on CHZZK. As one of its most prominent names, Dong-sook will play an important part in the livestreaming service establishing itself as a viable option for content creators as we enter the new year.

Luckily, CHZZK has done well so far, already emerging as the sixth-most popular platform of all time as per the Streams Charts database. The record 445,283 concurrent viewers it hit on November 2 was all thanks to the Worlds 2024 Grand Final between T1 and Bilibili Gaming.

4 — Kim "김민교." Min-gyo

The number one streamer from SOOP Korea last year is 김민교., one of the most recognized League of Legends streamers from Korea. He finished among the legendary MOBA's most-watched content creators in 2024, alongside the abovementioned BJ이상호.

Many fans see Min-gyo as a mentee and successor to BJ이상호. After all, it was after meeting the latter that the star video gaming personality began his career in livestreaming. Of course, there is a healthy rivalry between the two today, with both producing top-quality content and belonging to the same agency, I'M BRAND Co., Ltd., which represents top content creators from South Korea.

김민교 ended as the most popular community caster at the 2024 LoL World Championship tournament among Korean streamers, trailing only the official LCK YouTube channel in terms of audience reach. As one of the top influencers on SOOP Korea, his continued popularity will be vital to the livestreaming service continuing its gradual growth in its new avatar.

— Kuzuha Channel

Kuzuha reinforced his reputation as one of the premier VTubers across the globe in 2024, aided by a 28% rise in his year-on-year watch time. It made him the top VTuber last year by HW, continuing his run as one of the top names in livestreaming.

What helped him up his watch time figures in 2024 was his participation in several major show tournaments and events throughout the year. The NIJISANJI VTuber was seen in the Crazy Raccoon Cup, the k4sen Con (conducted by fellow top ten member k4sen), and LEGENDUS, hosted by Chikara "fps_shaka" Kawakami. Moreover, Kuzuha himself hosted multiple marathons on GTA V and Minecraft RP servers, playing alongside other popular Japanese VTubers and content creators.

When it came to his gaming content last year, Kuzuha's most-played title was GTA V, although he gave time to League of Legends, Apex Legends, and Street Fighter 6 as wellIn fact, one of his livestreams from June 18, where he played on a GTA V RP server with other NIJISANJI VTubers, ended as the second-most-watched on his channel.

2 — Chikara "fps_shaka" Kawakami

Few people embody Japanese livestreaming as much as fps_shaka, one of the world’s leading content creators. Specializing in Grand Theft Auto V, he has spent the last few years among its most-watched streamers and played a significant role in the global success of the game’s roleplaying component, especially during the pandemic and the years that followed.

To reiterate just how famous and influential he has been, the 33-year-old was the only streamer from Asia to make the top 20 most-viewed Twitch streamer lists across 2021 and 2022. As he is currently in the seventh spot on the same leaderboard for last year, there is a high chance he will make it a hat-trick of appearances by the end of the year.

In addition to GTA, fps_shaka has also played a lot of Street Fighter 6, a series that continues to have a massive following in his home country of Japan. His popularity has led him to take on roles as a caster at various esports and streamer tournaments, collaborate with other top influencers, and host events like LEGENDUS.

1 — Junichi "うん〇ちゃん" Kato

Just about squeezing into the top spot on these standings, at the time of writing, is うん〇ちゃん. He rivals Shaka for the title of top Asian Twitch creator, with his broadcasts regularly drawing in thousands of viewers.

The Tokyo resident recently made the news in his homeland and worldwide when his livestream, where he disclosed to audiences his extramarital affair, became his most popular broadcast ever. It was also a new record for Japanese streamers on Twitch, extending his lead over eternal rival Shaka.

Kato's 2024 livestreams were primarily focused on Just Chatting and Valorant. In fact, he finished among the top 10 most-watched Valorant content creators in 2024, outperforming notable names like Heitor "Tck10" Tomazela, Kyedae "Kyedae" Shymko, Tyson "TenZ" Ngo, and Pujan "FNS" Mehta.

The Tokyo-based influencer has also been one of the most consistent livestreamers on Twitch, with 2024 being the fourth straight year that he has finished among its 50 most-watched names. He has also used his online success for outside ventures, most recently coming on board the upcoming Kings World Cup Nations project as the President of the Japanese team.
