It was mostly status quo for Twitch across October 2024, with most of its viewership statistics remaining almost the same as the previous month. While September 2024's rankings were dominated by esports events, helping a few games climb up the charts, only League of Legends maintained that pace in the latest leaderboard.
The Riot Games MOBA continued to see its monthly number soar, thanks to the 2024 Worlds, which has reached its conclusion. League of Legends enjoyed a 31% rise in its watch time, with the jump when it came to the peak concurrent viewership being an even higher 110%.
LoL's rise was also seen in the fact that many of its channels made the top ten list. The biggest name to do so was Caedrel, who set a personal record for audience size in the course of covering the 2024 World Championship.
Circling back to the purple platform's month-on-month viewership figures, only one metric saw red, Average Viewers, which was also a negligible 3%. The Peak Viewers and Peak Channels went by 8% each, while the Hours Watched and Games Streamed numbers ticked up by 1% and 2%, respectively.
Most Watched Games & Categories on Twitch, October 2024
October saw the big three maintain their spots at the top of the monthly rankings, with the topper Just Chatting doing almost double the next-best entry despite seeing a 10% decrease in activity compared to September.
As mentioned, League of Legends continued on its merry ways thanks to the conduct of its — and possibly esports' — biggest tournament. Grand Theft Auto V remained third although it also saw a minimal 2% rise in its MoM watch time, led by streamers in the Americas and Japan either enjoying the various role-playing servers or just spending time exploring the vast open world.
Among FPS offerings, Fortnite, Valorant, and Counter-Strike made the top ten, with Rio Games' agent shooter ranking the highest at fourth. Dota 2, which went as high up as fourth in September thanks to its most coveted tournament, The International 2024, fell back down to occupy the seventh spot in October.
We also had Minecraft make an appearance here by jumping four places, led by a host of Spanish-speaking content creators busying themselves with the Dedsafio series. There was also Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which despite being released late in the month carried enough hype to finish in the tenth position.
Most Watched Channels on Twitch, October 2024
The most-watched channel in October 2024 was the British LoL creator, Caedrel, whose monthly watch time shot up by 91% thanks to co-casting the ongoing 2024 Worlds. He also hit a record of 386.6 PV during the Semifinals between Korean rivals T1 and Gen.G, a match that broke several records, as seen here.
There were two official LoL broadcasters that made this top ten as well, with the Riot Games and otplol_ handles touching base at the second and seventh spots, respectively. ibai, who covered matches of his side, MAD Lions KOI, also made the cut in the fourth position.
The list had space for one other prominent co-caster, with CS2 superstar Gaules coming in the ninth spot after accruing 5M HW. A majority of this figure came while covering various events in the game like the IEM Rio 2024, BLAST Premier: World Final 2024, and Thunderpick World Championship 2024.
Caseoh_ and うん〇ちゃん (Junichi Kato) were the representatives for gaming content in these standings, with the former maintaining his trend of playing a new title every few weeks, with his top choice in October being TCG Card Shop Simulator. The Japanese sensation, meanwhile, was busy playing Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky and Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2024-2025.
Just Chatting had HasanAbi flying the flag high, with the political commentator having plenty to discuss thanks to the American presidential debate heating up and controversies involving colleagues like Asmongold. Germans Papaplatte and eliasn97 were also present, with the latter covering his Icon League while the former had daily uploads of his travels around the Balkan region of Europe.
Topping the most popular streamers list on Twitch was aminematue, who hosted the second version of his celebrity football match, Eleven All Stars 2. It did 991K PV, making it the biggest French broadcast of 2024 and the fifth-best one of all time in the language by peak concurrent viewership.
Most Watched Female Streamers on Twitch, October 2024
ironmouse continued her reign atop the female list after registering 2.81M HW last month. Her annual charity subathon, which ran from September 1 until October 9, made the VTuber the most subscribed Twitch streamer ever, adding another accomplishment to her growing kitty.
Two other virtual YouTubers, 赤見かるび and MataraKan, also made this top ten leaderboard. The former, also known as Akami Karubi, is from Japan and usually plays fighter and shooter games, while the latter is Canadian and more of an IRL streamer, although she did play a lot of I'm Only Sleeping, the point-and-click game that has gone viral.
We also had Emiru and ExtraEmily finish in the top ten, with the OTK members enjoying jumps in their month-on-month watch time. Kyedae, another popular female streamer in the North American scene, finished fifth after witnessing a spike of 36% in her watch time compared to September.
GirlOfNox, one of the stars of the ongoing Desfadio 3 Minecraft series, used this increase in activity to clinch the third spot on the October rankings with 1.79M HW. She is joined by her counterparts from Canada and Korea, 39daph and Jinnytty, respectively, both of who managed over 1M HW last month.
