Recently, Streams Charts named the most popular streamer communities on Twitch in August 2021, and now it's time to take stock of the entire summer on the platform. We tell you which categories were in the greatest demand on the site in the last three months and which of the content makers demonstrated the best viewer activity.

Twitch Totals in Summer 2021

Compared to the spring, Twitch's indicators fell in the summer period. In total, the platform generated almost 5.9 billion Hours Watched during June, July and August. In the summer, the average number of viewers of the service also decreased by 12% (to 2.67M people).

Top Twitch Categories in Summer 2021

The most popular category on Twitch in the summer of 2021 was Just Chatting. In three months, Just Chatting got 740M Hours Watched. Over the summer, the average number of viewers in the category was 336.2K, and the average number of channels was 4.4K.

Just Chatting has dominated Twitch for more than a year. The last time the category yielded in terms of Hours Watched was in April 2020, when it collected 141.6M hours, and the Valorant that provoked the furor — 344.4M.

The most popular game category for the summer 2021 was GTA V456M HW. Despite the second place in the overall ranking, the game from Rockstar Games is inferior to Just Chatting by almost 40% in terms of Hours Watched over the summer. The average number of viewers of the category on Twitch was 207.3K, and the average number of channels — 3K. At the peak, 607.4K people watched the broadcasts of the game.

Such popularity of the title, which was released back in 2013, is due to the high interest of gamers in RP servers, where streamers actively create content.

The third and fourth places were taken by two games from Riot Games — League of Legends and Valorant. In the summer, MOBA collected 418.8M Hours Watched with an average of 190.3K viewers, and shooter — 238M HW (43.2% less) with 108.3K viewers on average.
