Kai Cenat & IShowSpeed's Minecraft marathon rivaled major esports events by watch time
Share:

After a lot of hard work and multiple failures lasting several days, Kai Cenat and Darren "IShowSpeed" Watkins Jr. have finally completed their Minecraft marathon. The popular duo's latest gaming challenge took over livestreaming, producing over 30 million watch hours and putting both streamers among the most-watched creators over the past week, according to Streams Charts.

The pair's massive 121-hour Minecraft Hardcore marathon finally concluded on August 12. Starting on August 7, 2026, the duo streamed live around the clock to defeat all four major boss mobs — the Ender Dragon, the Wither, the Elder Guardian, and the Warden — in a single continuous Hardcore world setting.

Viewership recap of Kai and Speed's latest Minecraft Hardcore marathon

Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed faced 42 in-game deaths across five days before successfully locking in the final wins. The globally renowned streamers' efforts and final achievement were broadcast live on their Twitch and YouTube channels, which produced just over 30 million Hours Watched.

Speed's YouTube channel generated the highest audience engagement, reaching 459.7 Peak Viewers and contributing over 13.5 million HW to the challenge's cumulative watch time. Kai's Twitch channel was his busiest, accruing 7.77 million HW and hitting just over 198K PV.

These four channels also averaged a not-insignificant 61.8K viewers, with their combined watch time eclipsing that of several top esports events. Additionally, Speed's Twitch channel reached a new peak concurrent record of 128.7K PV during the final-day stream where they defeated the Ender Dragon.

If we look at the concluded events at the ongoing Esports World Cup 2026, their total watch time beat everything but the top event, MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026. A broader look at the Esports Charts database also shows that Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed's latest Minecraft challenge surpassed the viewership of other recent creator events such as Ludwig Streamer Games 2026 and Red Bull Cyborg Season Ultra 600.

It also beat top-tier esports leagues like MPL Malaysia Season 17, LEC 2026 Spring, and VALORANT Masters Santiago 2026and one of the top media football tournaments, Kings World Cup Nations 2026. Most of these events often include community casting and broadcasts in multiple languages worldwide, so exceeding their livestreaming output is no mean feat.

Moreover, three of their channels ended among the most-watched channels over the past week. IShowSpeed's YouTube channel reached the top of a leaderboard dominated by TV Network channels. Kai Cenat's Twitch channel settled into the third spot, while his YouTube channel ended in ninth place.

Kai and Speed's marathon history

Readers must note that this is not the first time IShowSpeed and Kai Cenat have come together for a gaming marathon. In fact, this is their second Minecraft hardcore challenge, with the first one streamed in August 2024.

Across both sessions, they stayed in a house specially decorated to resemble Minecraft. The rules were also similar for both marathons, as the pair would livestream continuously until they defeated all four major mob bosses, with character deaths resetting their progress and forcing them to start over.

Kai and Speed's first Minecraft marathon accumulated 18.88 million watch hours across broadcast sessions that stretched to over 105 hours. This challenge, too, outpaced several esports events from the same year, including the first Twitch Rivals Squid Craft Games ft. Komanche and Kings League Santander 2024.

What helped the second Minecraft marathon do better than the first one in terms of watch time was the fact that their 2024 efforts were solely broadcast on one channel each. However, in a reflection of the changing dynamics of the livestreaming industry today, both Kai and Speed multistreamed the 2026 challenge on Twitch and YouTube.

These two Minecraft challenges also surpassed their efforts playing Chained TogetherThe pair took 11 hours and 14 minutes to conquer the game and accrued over 3.3 million HW, which was comparable to major events like ZLAN 2024The Streamer Awards 2024, and EMEA Masters Spring 2024.

We also have to mention their joint Rumble channel, Kai N Speed Show, where the two have hosted an ambitious entertainment show. Although not comparable to a single marathon, the 12 episodes they have done together have racked up just over 2 million hours watched, which is close to the viewership stats of small esports tournaments and events like Nintendo Direct (including co-streaming), Premios ESLAND, and OTK Wild West Ranch.

Kai and Speed's latest Minecraft Hardcore marathon recap and top moments

The continuous 24/7 streaming format tested the two creators' endurance over five straight days, as every death brought high tension and set back hours of resource farming and deep-dark preparation. Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed successfully adjusted their tactics under the coaching of Minecraft speedrunner Feinberg to systematically defeat all four bosses.

A total of 42 restarts also meant the duo provided legendary streaming chaos throughout their 121-hour run. Early in the stream, Speed generated massive chat laughter by confidently attempting to craft a functional weapon out of raw chicken pieces.

Moreover, after spending eight long hours completing a quest line to guarantee extra health bars, they encountered a ghost entity. Kai forgot to actively hold the defensive item in his main hand, leading to an immediate death that triggered an explosive live argument.

Another moment that had fans in splits was an iconic early wipeout that included Kai's character meeting an unexpected demise. Speed immediately celebrated by pulling off a live backflip in his room, entirely ignoring the fact that their shared Hardcore world had just been deleted.

Users can now toggle multistream data directly on a creator's main overview page, allowing for quick tracking of streamers who broadcast to multiple platforms simultaneously. For an example of how this looks, you can view the toggle on TheBurntPeanut’s channel page, while the entire package can be accessed using our PRO subscription for streamers.

This latest gaming marathon reiterated the fact that such influencer-led projects have the potential to rival top esports and media events by viewership. Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed also proved they remain among the biggest audience drivers globally in the livestreaming industry, and fans are no doubt waiting for their next project.
