Breakdown of Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers in Q4 2021

Every quarter, Streams Charts continues to provide insight into the viewership results of the biggest language groups on Twitch. As such, this article analyses the viewership statistics of the Top 100 Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers during the fourth quarter of 2021 (October-December).

Note: Studio and gaming community channels have been excluded from these statistics. 

Based on the statistics from previous quarters, there’s been a declining trend in viewership of the Portuguese-speaking streamers present in the second half of 2021. While the viewership decrease in Q3 2021 was 14.7%, the trend slowed down by more than half by the end of the year.

Country distribution of TOP 100 Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers in Q4 2021

In Q4 2021, the Top 100 Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers generated 197.5M Hours Watched, which makes 3.59% of total Hours Watched (5.5BN) accumulated on the platform and 51.96% of total HW (380M) generated by all Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers. Compared to the previous quarter, the number of Hours Watched generated by the Top 100 decreased by 6.65%

The country distribution shows Brazil as the most represented country among the Top 100 Portuguese-speaking streamers, with 94 out of the 100 creators being Brazilian. The remaining six creators are Portuguese. 

Accordingly, Brazilians made the largest contribution to the group’s viewership — 193.2M Hours Watched, which is 97.8% of the total HW generated by the Top 100. Portuguese streamers generated a total of 4.3M Hours Watched, which accounts for 2.2% of the total HW generated by the Top 100. Compared to Q3, the share of Hours Watched by Portuguese streamers among the Top 100 increased by half.

The composition of the Top 10 Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers in Q4 2021 has barely changed since Q3, with only two newcomers to the chart. 

The placement has remained roughly the same as well, with Alexandre “Gaules” Borba in the lead, who’s been dominating Portuguese Twitch the whole year. In Q4 2021, his viewers spent 44.08M hours watching his streams, which is 22.32% of the total Hours Watched generated by the Top 100. Compared to Q3, Gaules’s HW count went up by 21%. He also reached the highest peak among the Top 10 — 343.3K concurrent viewers tuned in to his stream of PGL Major Stockholm 2021 playoff match between FURIA Esports vs. Gambit Esports. This stream broke Gaules’s viewership record and became his third most successful stream up to date. 

Similarly to the previous quarter, the second was loud_coringa with 22.19M Hours Watched (11.23% of the total HW by Top-100), which is 32.9% less than in Q3. The drop in loud_coringa’s HW count in Q4 was most likely caused by lower Air Time, as he spent about 21.5% less streaming in Q4 than in the previous quarter.

Casimito closes the Top 3 with 12.15M Hours Watched (6.15% of the Total Top-100 WH). Casimito saw a substantial viewership growth in Q4 2021 — 45.5%

The rest of the streamers who earned a spot in the Top 10 of most watched Portuguese-speaking Twitch creators are YoDa, alanzoka, gabepeixe, Baiano, Cellbit mch_AGG and mount

Most popular female Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers

Most watcehd female Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers in Q4 2021

While there were 10 female creators within the Top 100 Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers in Q3 2021, only five girls got into the chart in Q4.  

The current leader is Bagi, who kept her leading position since the previous quarter. In Q4 2021, she generated over 1M Hours Watche(0.52% of total HW by Top-100), showing an 11% decline in viewership. Bagi also reached the highest peak within the group — 28.3K Peak Viewers tuned in to her broadcast of a hangout with multiple other streamers, which ended up being her second most popular stream to date. 

The second is paulanobre with a 901.5K Hours Watched mark (0.46% of total HW by Top-100), followed by nahzinhaa, Doutora and yulla

Most watched categories of TOP 100 Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers in Q4 2021In Q4 2021, the audience of the Top 100 Portuguese-speaking Twitch creators enjoyed watching mostly broadcasts in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive category, generating 47.46M Hours Watched, which is 24% of the total HW by the Top 100. 

The Top 10 categories in Q4 also included GTA VJust ChattingLeague of LegendsSportsVALORANTFortniteTabletop RPGsFIFA 22 and Garena Free Fire

Audience intersection of TOP 100 Portuguese-speaking Twitch streamers in Q4 2021

When it comes to audience overlap among the Top 5 Portuguese-speaking streamers, the biggest intersection in Q4 2021 was between Casimito's and Gaule’s audiences. While 50.82% of Casimito's viewers watched also Gaule’s broadcasts, 33.73% of Gaule’s viewers also watched Casimito's streams. 

Conversely, the lowest audience overlap have loud_coringa’s and YoDa’s viewers — only 11.68% of loud_coringa’s audience watch YoDa’s streams, while 15.45% of YoDa’s viewers also watch loud_coringa. 

In conclusion, the Top 100 Portuguese-speaking Twitch creators have seen only a slight viewership decline in Q4 2021. While the composition of the leading male creators within the group stayed approximately the same, the number of female streamers in the Top 100 lowered by half, showing a decreasing interest of Portuguese-speaking audience in female streamers.
