The recent reveal of The Streamer Awards 2025 nominees has shone a spotlight on quite a few content creators reaching the prime of their careers. One such influencer is Jason "JasonTheWeen" Nguyen, who over the years has emerged as a fan favorite and one of the most-watched Twitch streamers. Streams Charts looks back on the Los Angeles resident's career, tracing his beginnings as a content creator and highlighting the highs and lows along the way.
Who is JasonTheWeen?
JasonTheWeen is an American Twitch streamer born to Vietnamese immigrants in Dallas, Texas. From a young age, he found success in his academic pursuits, which he married with a disciplined work ethic he picked up from his parents, who ran a nail salon in Fort Worth, Texas.

As a result, the 21-year-old became a quiet and academically successful student, emerging as a three-time Spelling Bee champion. Raised by his aunt for a period, Jason attended the University of Texas at Arlington, where he studied Information Systems.
Online career beginnings and the success that led him to FaZe Clan
JasonTheWeen started his online journey by creating a Twitch account at age 14 in 2018, although he only streamed twice that year. His initial significant rise to fame came about when he began making TikTok videos in 2021. He went by the name NguyenMoneySniper on the video-sharing application and started becoming widely known by posting clips.
His success on TikTok, where he has accrued over 1.2 million followers, quickly evolved into a high-profile streaming career. It also led to his migration back to Twitch in late August 2022, as he looked to make a living via a livestreaming career.
Jason restarted his consistent streaming career on the purple platform by primarily playing games like Valorant and Fortnite. He streamed almost every day and initially averaged about 100 viewers, simultaneously also posting VODs of his Twitch broadcasts on YouTube.
Jason's viewership increased significantly after streaming with fellow creator Connor "PROD" Moran, whom he challenged to a 1v1 in Valorant. PROD accepted the challenge after recognizing Jason from his viral clips, and by September 2022, Jason was averaging 3,000 views per stream.

Jason also made his musical debut around this time, releasing his first song, Goodbye Yujin, on streaming platforms in February 2023. It was created as an ode to his girlfriend at the time, Yujin, with whom he split on mutual terms a year later.
Like many influencers at that time, JasonTheWeen rapidly gained further fame by embracing cringe comedy on TikTok and by streaming popular e-dates on Twitch, where he would collaborate with various internet personalities. He also started livestreaming similar content on Twitch while simultaneously increasing the number of hours he was online.
As a result, by the end of 2023, he improved on his yearly watch time by 767% to feature within Twitch's top 600 creators by watch time. His content had more or less become more about IRL and Just Chatting livestreams on Twitch, where he conversed with his chat, did video commentary, reacted to news, and shared stories. This strategy helped cement his reputation for entertaining, high-engagement conversational content.
Jason's rapid growth, particularly with his Just Chatting and collaboration-focused content, positioned him as a star in the new generation of streamers. His success as a breakout creator ultimately led to him joining FaZe Clan in May 2024 as new talent, solidifying his status as a major figure in the entertainment organization. He also launched his first extended play, Love Bomb, in May 2024, which featured his popular song Dep Gai.
Livestreaming success with FaZe Clan
JasonTheWeen joined the highly popular North American professional esports and entertainment brand last year, right after it went through a reboot, and he has gone from strength to strength. His style of livestreaming has also evolved to become more conversational and personality-driven content.
The move also opened new avenues outside of livestreaming. On January 10, 2025, Jason performed live for the first time at The Circle OC in Huntington Beach, California. He has also appeared in multiple music videos and was one of the contestants in Season 2 of Inside, the Sidemen-created reality competition series now streaming on Netflix.
One of the big highlights of his time with FaZe Clan was ending as the most-subbed Asian Twitch creator during the streamer group's subathon toward the end of 2024. Such was the success of this endeavor that there was a second edition last month, and Jason once again left a mark, becoming the third-most subscribed Twitch streamer ever on Twitch.

The Vietnamese-American also made news for his on-stream prank war with fellow FaZe Clan member Maxwell "plaqueboymax" Dent. He and Sakura Shymko (Kyedae "Kyedae" Shymko's sister) then came into the limelight for their relationship, which blossomed during the Streamer Prom event and involved writing her a custom love song and the coining of the now infamous "Jakura" term by fans.
The stream of the Prom Night hit a personal Twitch channel record peak of over 124,000 viewers, solidifying Jason's ability to create massive social moments. With the couple breaking up and then getting back together a couple of months later, the hype created was enough to get them a nomination for Best Stream Duo at the Streamer Awards 2025.

In terms of livestreaming numbers, the last two years have been hugely successful for Jason. Backed by his exploits with FaZe Clan, he ended 2024 among Twitch's top 50 creators by watch time, accumulating around 27.6 million Hours Watched (HW), before outdoin himself this year by sitting among the purple platform's 15 most-watched influencers. This rise has played a big part in his nomination in the Streamer of the Year category at The Streamer Awards 2025.
In essence, Jason's rise over the past two years has coincided with his joining FaZe Clan and their willingness to go to extreme lengths to entertain their audiences. It has benefitted the group as well, which has finished among the most-watched Twitch esports organizations teams over the last two years.
JasonTheWeen ended 2024 with the Best Breakout Streamer award at The Streamer Awards 2024 and a nomination in the Best Just Chatting Streamer category, and he will be up for the latter again this year. Three nominations in total at the 2025 ceremony show where he stands in the livestreaming industry, and clinching the big one could send him into rarified air, one occupied by Twitch stars like Kai Cenat, Ibai "ibai" Llanos and Alexandre "Gaules" Chiqueta.
