On March 27, the number of followers on Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek's Twitch channel exceeded 10 million people. The Canadian content creator from Loaded agency became the sixth streamer on the platform to reach such a large fan base.
In August 2018, Richard ‘Ninja’ Blevins was the first content creator to reach 10 million followers on the platform. Later, Raul ‘auronplay’ Alvarez, Rubén ‘Rubius’ Doblas Turner ‘Tfue’ Tenney and Felix ‘xQcOW’ Lengyel also achieved this result. Spanish-speaking streamers David ‘TheGrefg’ Canovas and Ibai ‘Ibai’ Llanos could be seventh and eighth on the list, the first one short of only 160K followers, the second one — 320K. Shroud has been a CS:GO pro-scene player since 2013 and has occasionally streamed on Twitch. As a member of Cloud9, he took first place in ESL Pro League Season 4 and second place in ESL One Cologne 2017. Grzesiek ended his CS:GO player career in 2018 and completely focused on streaming.
A few days before xQcOW's channel became followed by 10 million Twitch users, he and shroud each had roughly 9.96 million followers, but Grzesiek reached the milestone five weeks later. Shroud's slower Followers Gain is related to the streamer's fanbase being established long ago, and the streamer spends nearly 30% less time on air than xQc.
Shroud doesn't consider his activity a job, as he says streamers can make money by doing absolutely nothing on broadcasts. At The Streamer Awards 2022, Grzesiek was named Gamer of the Year.
