Top 10 most watched Twitch teams in 2022

Top 10 most watched Twitch teams in 2022
Share:

Streams Charts ranked the most watched teams on Twitch in 2022. This list includes not only esports clubs and communities, but also agencies, brands, and top content creation teams. Some of them have hundreds of streamers, while others tend to revolve around a single celebrity.

Topping Twitch's top streaming teams is G FUEL, a caffeine-based energy drink brand that sponsors many esports teams and events in the industry. In 2022, it generated 308M Hours Watched, which is 38% fewer than in 2021, when it also took the first spot. It should be reminded that over the past year, G FUEL has increased the number of its members to 671 streamers (up 33 channels) – and this is the largest number of channels among the teams in the top. G FUEL’s most popular content creator, just like last year, is summit1g.

Luminosity Gaming holds the second spot in the ranking (up 1). In 2022, its members generated 269M Hours Watched (down 26%), and the most popular channel attracted a total of 330K Peak Viewers – this happened on the broadcast of xQc, who also became the most-watched Luminosity streamer (the Canadian generated almost 81% of the entire team’s total Hours Watched). By the way, in 2022 the total number of Luminosity channels grew from 41 to 58.

The Loaded team took the third spot in the top (down 1) with a result of 260M Hours Watched (down 36%). In 2022, the team reduced the number of participants (from 43 to 38 channels). The most popular streamer was summ1tg, who generated 25% of the entire team’s total Hours Watched.

The fourth place in the ranking (up 8) was taken by the OTK creative association: in 2022, its streamers generated 227M Hours Watched, thereby improving last year's result by 38% (something achieved by only two teams from the top 10). The leader of the Asmongold team showed the best Peak Viewers result among all OTK streamers, attracting 451.6K Peak Viewers during the broadcast where he criticized Diablo Immortal. Another important factor in the growth of OTK indicators is the arrival of the popular American streamer Sodapoppin to the team.

It should be noted that OTK had a lot of interesting entertainment content in 2022: show tournaments with streamers, reality shows with athletes, and other events. In addition, the team opened their own studio in Los Angeles (with WePlay) and received The Streamer Awards as the best content creation team in 2022.

It should be noted that in 2022 the team changed its leader. If earlier the most-watched streamer was Mizkif, then after the scandal and his temporary suspension, it was Asmongold who took over – and his contribution to the total Hours Watched was 34%.

The team of the manufacturer of computer components Corsair lost one position at the end of the year and dropped to the fifth spot. In 2022, its streamers generated 201.5M Hours Watched (down 23%) and attracted 69.9K Peak Viewers. The status of the team leader was retained by summit1g, who was responsible for 32.5% of the team's total Hours Watched during the year.

The Riot Games channel association climbed five positions at once and, at the end of 2022, claimed the sixth spot in the ranking. Broadcasts on League of Legends and Valorant generated just over 201M Hours Watched (down 5%) and reached the mark of 990K Peak Viewers. All this was achieved thanks to the finals of the 2022 World Championship and Valorant Champions 2022 – both tournaments set records in their disciplines.

The seventh spot (up 2) was taken by the Brazilian team Tribo Gaules, which became the most watched among the teams that broadcast in languages other than English. In 2022, Tribo Gaules streamers generated 194.3M Hours Watched (down 10%) and attracted 707.6K Peak Viewers. The vast majority of this audience coverage came from Gaules (81.5%) through his coverage of major CS:GO tournaments. For example, during the PGL Antwerp Major, he gathered that very 707.6K people on the stream, which became a new record for his channel.

Vizz Agency, which includes the top Spanish streamers ibai and Rubius, took the eighth spot in the top (down 1) with a result of 187M Hours Watched (down 22%). At the same time, the duo set a Peak Viewers record, reaching the mark of more than 3.3M Peak Viewers. It happened on the ibai channel during the broadcast of the boxing show tournament La Velada Del Año II. You can read more about this here.

Streamers of the eSports club TSM in 2022 scored 177M Hours Watched (down 28%) and attracted 381K Peak Viewers. All this allowed the organization to take the ninth spot in the ranking (down 4). TSM_ImperialHal remained the leader of the association, and his streams on Apex Legends brought the team 21.1% of the total Hours Watched. It should be noted that over the past year, TSM has increased the number of streamers from 109 to 121 people.

The real breakthrough of the year among the teams was Team Liquid, which in 2021 ranked 29th, and in 2022 rose to the tenth spot. Team Liquid streamers generated 157M Hours Watched (up 40%) and attracted 112.8K Peak Viewers. Over the year, the organization increased the pool of streamers from 150 to 173 channels, and it also changed its leader — if last year midbeast had the largest audience coverage, then in 2022 Maximum, the leader of the Liquid guild in World of Warcraft, came out on top. The strengthening of Team Liquid's position in the ranking is due to two factors: stable broadcasts from the team's top streamers, as well as viewers' interest in the progress race in World of Warcraft, in which club players participate.

Among the teams that did not make it into the top 10 of the overall top, there are also some notable mentions. For example, the Sentinels organization was able to take the seventh spot (up 6 positions) in the ranking of esports clubs – as in 2022, its streamers generated 98M Hours Watched. ZETA DIVISION also showed a good result — its streaming team began to actively broadcast only in 2022 and managed to finish the year while claiming the tenth spot of the esports top.

Most popular commands by language

The English-speaking community dominates Twitch, but the platform has many streamers and teams that create content in other languages. We determined the top teams for each language, as well as the number of Hours Watched they accumulated in 2022.

The Brazilian team Tribo Gaules took the first spot among those who make streams in Portuguese (194.3M Hours Watched) – all thanks to streams of CS:GO tournaments. In the Spanish segment of Twitch, the Vizz duo holds the lead (187.7M) - they managed to reach such a figure through entertaining live events, as well as streams dedicated to League of Legends and Minecraft.

INSIGHT became the most popular among German teams (86.8M) — the streamers of this community love to play Lost Ark, FIFA, GTA V, and other popular titles, as well as just chat with fans. In Japan, the first spot is occupied by the DeToNator team (85.2M). Its leader fps_shaka encompasses a fairly large pool of disciplines, but most often he can be seen in the list of top community casters of Valorant tournaments.

Closing the top 5 is the French association of streamers Indy Spensable, which generated 61.4M Hours Watched. This team is led by popular French streamer ZeratoR, who plays World of Warcraft and often hosts tournaments and live events where he raises money for charity.

Overlap of the teams’ audiences

Popular streamers can be members of several Twitch teams at once, so when comparing them, we can see a certain overlap in terms of Hours Watched. We analyzed the top 5 teams in the rankings to see how high the presence of the same content creators is on those teams.

Summit1g is the most popular streamer in three communities at once: G FUEL, Loaded, and Corsair. This means that when he broadcasts, this time is counted for each of the above teams. Corsair and Loaded have the largest overlap in Hours Watched at 56.4%.

The G FUEL overlaps with Loaded at 26.5% and with Corsair at 27.7%. It is important to note here that the percentages are lower, since G FUEL has a very large number of channels (671), so, against their background, the share of Summit1g turned out to be smaller.

Often there are situations when an e-sportsman or a streamer is a member of his own team, as well as of the sponsor's team. This can be seen in the example of G FUEL's overlap with Luminosity Gaming: 11.47%.

On the other hand, OTK, Riot Games, Tribo Gaules, Vizz, and Team Liquid don't feature any overlap with anyone at all. This is because their streamers are not in other teams from the top 10.
