Brazilian content makers continue to improve their indicators on Twitch, attracting more and more new audiences. Streams Charts took the top 100 Portuguese-language streamers of the platform for the second quarter of 2021 and analyzed their performance: who became the most popular content maker and what their viewers watched — in this article.
Disclaimer: the analyzed rating was compiled according to the hours that viewers spent watching streamers' broadcasts (Hours Watched). The channels of studios and gaming communities were not taken into account in the analysis.
In the period from April 1 to June 30, the top 100 Portuguese-speaking streamers generated over 248M Hours Watched. This is only 3.85% of all Twitch Hours Watched. But if we take only Portuguese, the contribution of the top 100 streamers is 50.45% in the HW of all Portuguese-speaking streamers, and this is one of the highest indicators on Twitch.
Compared to the first quarter of 2021, HW of the top 100 increased by 10%, while their airtime remained almost the same. As in the first quarter, the vast majority of the top are Brazilians — this time there are 97 people (in the first quarter there were 93). Two more represent Portugal and one — Paraguay.
The number of girls in the top 100 decreased to seven (in the first quarter there were nine). This directly affected the performance of girls: Hours Watched declined by 28%, and the time on the air by 17%. The situation is better for the guys: viewers spent 12% more hours watching their broadcasts in the second quarter.
Gaules has traditionally become the most viewed Portuguese-speaking streamer — in the second quarter, he generated 9.5% of all Portuguese-language HW on Twitch. Traditional broadcasts of major CS:GO tournaments helped the Brazilian in this, as well as an exclusive agreement with NBA Brasil — thanks to the deal, since June, the streamer has been broadcasting NBA matches on Twitch.
In terms of airtime, Gaules is also in the top, but JohnPitterTV became the absolute leader in the second quarter among Portuguese-speaking streamers — he spent almost 2,172 hours on the air in three months.
The second place in terms of Hours Watched was taken by a representative of the organization LOUD — coringa. In the second quarter of 2021, the Brazilian generated 23.8M HW, which is a couple of million more than it was in the first quarter. alanzoka closed the top 3 with 12M HW.
Unlike the Spanish top, only guys entered the top 10 most viewed Portuguese-speaking streamers. Cellbit, YoDa, Baiano, mount, casimito, NOBRU and liminhag0d took the 4th to 10th places. Note the progress of the latter — compared to the first quarter, the indicators of liminhag0d increased by more than x1.5.
As for the girls, the top has undergone significant changes compared to the first quarter. Then the leader among the female streamers was loud_babi, but in the second quarter the crown of the championship passed to EaiiMaka. loud_babi is only in fourth place. yayahuz, the only representative of Paraguay, also got into the top 100.
The preferences of viewers have changed slightly compared to the first quarter. For both male and female streamers, the audience preferred Grand Theft Auto V broadcasts. The guys also had CS:GO and Just Chatting in the top 3 categories, and the girls — Just Chatting and VALORANT.
In terms of airtime, the guys paid more attention to GTA V and CS:GO, while the girls — to communication with the audience and VALORANT. Note that the top games by the time on the air for guys included Fortnite, and for girls — the Watch Parties category.
When compiling the report, we also analyzed how many unique Gaules viewers watched other streamers from the top 10 in the second quarter of 2021. Thus, 38% of the Brazilian audience watched alanzoka's streams, and only 10.65% watched NOBRU's broadcasts.
