Streams Charts continues to sum up the second quarter of 2022 on Twitch. In this new feature, we'll take a look at the top Spanish-speaking streamers, an interesting overlap between their audiences, the most popular categories, and and sharp drop of watch time in this language segment.
Hours Watched of the top 100 Spanish-speaking creators were growing rapidly in both late 2021 and the first quarter of 2022, but now it has shown a drop of 19% in the second quarter of this year. Between April and June, the top Spanish-speaking streamers accumulated 258.9 million Hours Watched, which is nearly 4.7% of Twitch's total number and 43.7% of this language segment's total.
Looking at the contribution of particular countries, the leader is Spain, whose creators generated more than 70% of the group's Hours Watched. Argentina (10.7%), Mexico (10.2%), Colombia (4.8%) and Andorra (1.1%) come next.
Most popular Spanish-speaking streamers on Twitch in Q2 2022
Ibai again became the most watched Spanish-speaking streamer, with a 28% increase of Hours Watched for the second quarter of 2022. The creator reached Twitch's new record by Peak Viewers in June generating over 3.3 million concurrent viewers during the La Velada Del Año II boxing event broadcast. You can find more details about it in our review. Auronplay retained its second place in the rankings, while his Hours Watched indicator increased by 4% during the quarter.
Curiously, Ibai and Auronplay were the only streamers from last quarter's top 10 whose Hours Watched numbers went up. For example, Rubius, although climbed to third place in the top, lost 32% of Hours Watched during the quarter, while juansguarnizo retained fourth place, losing 45% of the previous quarter's figure. IlloJuan rounded out the top 5, climbing one position, while his Hours Watched fell by 40%.
The same figure for elxokas dropped by 67%, and the streamer fell from third place to sixth. ElMariana and ElSpreen are next, moving up one position in the ranking, despite losing 26% and 31% of their Hours Watched respectively. TheGrefg figures dropped the most, he lost 72% of Hours Watched in the second quarter and fell to ninth place.
Knekro lost 47% of Hours Watched and gave up tenth place to aXoZer, who, in turn, improved his figure by 12%. Most of this rapid drop in Hours Watched among most of the top Spanish-speaking streamers is explained by the fact that creators spent 7-31% less time on the air than in the first quarter of the year.
The most popular Spanish-speaking female streamers on Twitch in Q2 2022
Among many girls who made it to the top 100 streamers on Twitch's Spanish-language segment, IJenz, who specializes in ASMR content, was the leader. Her Hours Watched in the second quarter of 2022 increased by 55% and her airtime did so by 23%. Nissaxter and AkumaGirrl also improved their numbers significantly, with their Hours Watched being up by 54% and 38% respectively.
Last quarter's top female streamer AriGameplays fell to sixth place in the top, rivers_gg jumped from third to second, IamCristinini fell from second to third, and Staryuuki retained fifth place. The only girl to drop out of the top 10 was aroyitt, whose Hours Watched dropped by 69% during the quarter.
The only newcomer it the top was Monny_ssima. On average, the girl is watched by less than 100 viewers, but in May she held a subathon with exclusive Twitch Drops on Rust, which allowed her to achieve such impressive figures.
The most popular categories on Spanish-language Twitch in Q2 2022
As the top 100 Spanish-speaking streamers lost 19% of their Hours Watched in the quarter, the metrics for most categories also dropped. For example, the traditionally top-ranked Just Chatting lost 7.4% of its Hours Watched.
At the same time, GTA V improved its figures by 180% thanks to the increased popularity of RP content and went from the ninth to the second position in the ranking. Hours Watched of Special Events increased by 81% thanks to Ibai's record-breaking streamand other Spanish-speaking creators' activities, moving the category up from eighth to third place.
LoL experienced just a slight increase, but it was enough to keep its fourth place. Valorant, in its turn, lost almost 15% of Hours Watched during the quarter and gave up fifth place to Rust, which, in turn, left second place, having lost 77% of its figure for the first quarter. Minecraft figures also fell quite a bit, the game lost 57% of its Hours Watched.
Fortnite's Hours Watched dropped by 18%, which pushed the game from seventh to ninth. FIFA 22 and Ark: Survival Evolved took eighth and ninth place, while Lost Ark and Elden Ring were out of the top 10 for the quarter.
Overlapping audiences of the most popular Spanish-speaking streamers on Twitch
We calculated the audience overlap between the five most watched Spanish-speaking streamers of Q2 2022. It turns out that 69-71% of Auronplay, Rubius, and juansguarnizo audiences are also Ibai viewers. At the same time, IlloJuan's audience is 88.5% the same as the audience of the segment's top 1 streamer.
The main reason for such a stunning audience overlap is the fact that Spanish-speaking creators are massively involved in various streamer events, they often cooperate and support each other.
The audiences of these streamers have the least overlap with IlloJuan's audience. His broadcasts are watched by only 18.2% of Ibai's audience, 20.8% of juansguarnizo's audience, 23.5% of Auronplay's audience, and 24.6% of Rubius' audience.
